  • Rare footage of someone who actually understands dogs and is not just a self proclaimed dog lover. Great job.

My 15 week golden thinks any sort of correction is play and proceeds to bite down harder
  • @dordbird
I had to watch this video twice, I was too busy looking at how cute those puppies are to absorb it
  • I'm a professional dog trainer from New Hampshire U.S.A. This is great advice and what I also suggest for my clients. I sometimes either show them a video of a mom dog disciplining her puppies, or ask them to watch a video when they have time to do so. Thank you for your videos, Will. They are great!

Omg!! I’ve just done this with my puppy and it worked! I tried the active method and low and behold she gets it! Took 3 attempts within about a minute and now she’s stopped nipping and biting during playtime. Later in the day we played again and she forgot herself a couple of times but just the noise was enough to remind her not to bite! You absolute legend!!! Thank you for this great tip! ... now on to perfecting the crate training!
  • I have been using thisas a handy reference book youtube.com/post/UgkxGQVgV21bQ7B9b9duQ1ByImyT9xHbj… . I read through the book and enjoyed the little glimpses of examples. I love that this author believes in rescue dogs. The tips and training has been invaluable and gave me moments of.... "how simple why didn't i think of it" so it's been a great tool. Thank you!

Yesterday my nine week old puppy (2 whole pounds!) was making mincemeat of my fingers as I yelped and made my hand go limp. More and more and more nipping. This morning I looked for this video, now that the reality of new puppy has set in at the one week mark, watched several times, had my husband watch it and we both practiced hissing like a couple of idiots. He coaxed me on improving my hissing, we changed our approach—and I’ve had a total of three isolated nips. THANK YOU!!! You are brilliant.

It’s only been a day but so far this is really working with my 9 week old golden retriever puppy. Thank you!
  • @krisgilboy2143
What do you do if the puppy thinks the correction is a fun game and can’t seem to be redirected to a toy?

Just brought home a mini bernedoodle at 8 weeks old. He must have thought i was one of his litter mates😅 as he was continually biting me. Tried all kinds of corrections, but this one did the trick!🎉 I'm not sure about the psychology of this, but it worked within 15 minutes. Thank you and my body parts, thank you😊

This has been the best and most informative video I've seen to help with puppy biting! I've watched several videos so far and yours has been the best at helping us! We just got a 9 week old golden retriever puppy. Thank you for this video!!!

Excellent video! At least I think so. I'm going to try it out. We are taking a puppy training course right now, and so far our puppy is responding very well, but it focuses entirely on "ignore and reward". That seems to work for anything we want to encourage, like retrieval or sitting or even obstacles, but doesn't seem to work great for stopping unwanted behavior. Whereas the older dog is not afraid to use corrections, and so far seems to be doing a better job training the puppy than we are. But he trains the puppy to his own ends, not necessarily ours.

Your method is way better than those passive ways..I didn’t had to courage before but after seeing ur methods I’m confident now
  • @rosemary44128
I tried this on my two-month pom, and it worked wonders. Thank you so much!! ❤

Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book youtube.com/post/UgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzz… in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.

I have tried this , which did not work, also tried tapping his nose sharply, he interoperates this as a challenge and snaps even more viscously at me very often drawing blood from my fingers, or face. He is a 10 week Border Collie, and apart from the biting, he is a perfect dog, and I am determined to master him, which is what brought me to this video. Thanks for sharing.
  • @Mamaginger
This worked very well after one week of puppy bites from our 8 week old GSD. Now I just make the ‘sound’ of active correction and she instantly stops. I realized that our cats have made a similar sound of warning to the puppy this whole week to train her to stay a few feet back from them. Humans also have a learning curve! 😂
  • I was doing the squealing method with my 10 week old aussie and it wasnt working. Now that i know about active correction i can see him really understanding that biting humans is not okay and will go running to his toys. that correct, redirect, reinforce was very helpful thank you Will!
