One of the best tips from this video. Confirm diagnosis with known good parts if you can. As a car/bicycle mechanic, sometimes quickly swapping out a suspicious sensor, head unit, easily accessible part and retesting can save you time and headaches. Example, misfires on cars, swap the coil packs/ignition coils from the misfiring cylinder to the neighboring cylinder. Clear codes. drive until the car misfires. If the code changes cylinders its the coil pack, if it doesnt, its a spark plug. RARELY is it something mechanical with a single cylinder.

always useful videos mate. A good tip with the Purion is first to fit a cover since water ingress is most likely to happen by operating the buttons when the unit is wet due to rain etc...............and second to fit it on the bars very nearly vertical rather than horizontal. button presses become far more positive and the unit is better protected from both crashes and the elements.

My bike has died too I am hoping it’s the head unit. Thanks for your advice and time and patience.

I've got a ktm ebike and I purchased new lights and found the same thing with mine as it already had the loom ready must be a thing with certain bike manufacturers... Great video as always πŸ‘ dave.

Thats one of the bf est vids i have watched, thank you,
  • The minute I saw the head unit, I knew it would be that, as my wife had a brand new bike and it her head unit went within weeks. Good to watch though.

You didn't check the battery in the original Purion display? that would have been my first thing to check.
  • Great in depth video with lots of useful information many thanks .
  • @virkelie2
Very interesting video! Wondering whether dead batteries in the Purion display could have explained why the ebike wasn't working?
  • This was fantastic thank you. Not sure if it'll solve my Voltbike Yukon 750 not turning on at all but at least I have some next steps!

I believe all Scott e-bikes come pre-wired for lights. I’m using the front wire only which leaves the rear cable exposed - probably not the best idea!

Great video,πŸ‘ would have liked to have seen the removal and fitting of the new unit in real terms is it a 2 minute job? How much would this service cost in labour? πŸ‘
  • @paro2210
I would have put some electrical tape on the ends of those wires, just to be safe. Also I would never have the battery in while plugging stuff in and out, its against my technician instincts. The best practice is to always take out the battery before doing stuff like that. Other than that great video.

    As always, great video πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  • Great video, very informative. I recently bought a 2nd hand xiaomi himo z20 however the display unit won't stay turned on (I have to hold the power button down) when it is on it displays an empty battery however the indicator light on the battery displays full. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Many thanks.
  • @codefields
Great video as usual, thanks for sharing the knowledge 😊
