Mine sucks only half the lights work on the tool and it couldn’t find a open if your life depends on it

So if I connect it to a relay circuit that powers on with the key on, will it continually beep as "open?" Then if I put the key in the ignition and power that circuit will the open condition go away? If so this tool can be very misleading to a beginner.
