VICE out here doing what MTV should be doin.
  • Maaan... These Vice stories of how songs were made are starting to get addictive! I really appreciate how they dig in to these old classics we've all kind if put to the back burner and how when they explain everything it almost makes you feel you are right back in that time enjoying it again!😄👌🏽 Super cool. These guys deserve more recognition for these inciteful vids bruh.

"this song ain't about dogs" "this is our nickelodeon kid's choice award."

I am so glad Anslem Douglas got the credit and spotlight he deserved because as a Caribbean American kid I was very familiar with the original before the Baha Men came with their cover. Also him trying to describe a sketel will live in my head.

The video that no one asked for but it's the video everyone needs
  • @heyrandyman
Good to see Anslem Douglas get his part in the story! A legend!!
  • @gaulishrealist
I weep for the kids who will never experience such simple times.
  • He has an ear for good music. Spent his resources to pursue it. He located the Baha Men and reorganized the group and came up with a massive global hit. All made good money with that hit single. That's courage and intuition. Meanwhile the former lead singer of Baha Men missed out of the money and fame because he quit just before the winning jackpot ticket was picked.

Rugrats movie is the reason why I loved this song so much as a kid. It’s dope to see the process behind it

I can't even get my friends to meet at Starbucks but apparently in 1998, organizing a multinational quadruple platinum pop culture hit was 1 obscure web reference on a barely functioning prototype browser and a phone call away.
  • I am happy Anslem Douglas get the credit & respect for his song

I remember hearing this song on Nickelodeon when I was like 7, and I loved it. I ran outside and told my friends about it, but my Trinidadian friend just went "yeah dude, that's an old ass song'' lmao
  • @forevaschemin
Greats series. I want to see one with Afroman with the songs because I got high

My mom went on vacation in the islands and came back singing this crazy song that was totally not cool at that time(insert teenage eye roll) then a year later and were all singing it ... This song makes me miss her like crazy and think of all the times with the windows down and the song way up.

I love that there was no ego whatsoever. Everybody was willing to do their bit to make it a hit and that’s it. Not to keep elbowing others to be the face of the hit.
  • @San_Be
I was living in Barbados when the original "Who Let The Dogs Out" was a huge Carnival, Kadooment, Party, Fete and Radio hit. It was massive for a long time. I moved back to London at the end of 99 and I was surprised to hear the newer version and how popular it was in around 2000/2001. This documentary is amazing.
  • The lead singer that left has gotta be pissed. 3x Platinum 😳
  • @RammusTF
This Steve guy has real determination and vision. WOW. Can't imagine the balls it takes to give everything up because you believe in something that much. RESPECT
  • @Jwang1228
My dog reacted to Steve's bark like its a real dog. Props for that detail.
