Hi! Consider this added to my list of "videos that I thought would fit into shorts but then turned out to be the opposite" videos.

Birds are such a teeny tiny detail in the sims that I think many of us forget they're even there. I remember the first time I bought one, it was in Sims 2, I thought it was cool that he flew around but I forgot to feed him, he died and I felt so bad that I didn't try to have a bird ever again, neither in the sims nor irl.

What's your experience with these little guys? Do you like them? Do you think EA will keep milking the sims 4 to reintroduce them as pets? My opinion?

Sims 1 was a solid base, with small and large birds behaving differently, altho, small birds feel barely there and large birds make way too much noise that they won't let my sims nap in peace not me play in silence, they're so annoying! But maybe that's just me

Sims 2 was a great progress, birds have more movement and variety in species of large birds, they have more interactions and can actually leave the cage if you want them to, cool stuff.

Sims 3 copied many things from Sims 2 but improved the way to get birds and reintroduced small birds, it's nice to have so many different varieties in their looks and I think it's neat how you can find them around the world if you're lucky (or have a certain trait)

Sims 4 scrapped all of this and we no longer get pet birds, instead, we get to interact with the wild birds and I think this is very nice in concept, but as a game meant for playing? I'm not sure. I love their little interactions and how they can actually get you stuff and help you with gardening, so yeah, these is a good change but I still miss the pet bird feeling. I'm not sure if pet birds will make a comeback or not but these are fine imo

But that's just my opinion, let me know your's and I'll see you on the next one! I'm thinking either grimm reaper or unique objects or finally stop procrastinating on the horse video, I guess you'll eventually know. Take care!

i try not to be a sims 4 hater in your comments but my jaw genuinely dropped seeing the quality go from sims 3 birds to whatever on earth sims 4 is doing

    sims 3 birds are unbeatable

I remember teaching a bird to talk in the sims 3, and when I've got burglar and policewoman entered the home after catching him, the bird said "sul sul" to her :D
  • To no one's surprise, Sims 4 took a step back in birds compared to pretty much all previous Sims games. As per usual 😢
  • @lukas2.036
The sims 1 introduced this feature, then the sims 2 improved, the sims 3 improved way more then the sims 4 downgraded it

i just realized there are birds in the sims 4-
  • I've never played the Sims 3 but I feel like adopting a pet like rodents and birds in the neighborhood or anywhere outside feels like catching a pokemon.

My favorite is when you play the piano and the birds dance to it in the Sims 2

Why get rid of pet store? Adopting a bird from the pet store is the best part!
  • Also, in Sims, 4 cats and dogs can scare the brids, and cats will pounce and get the feathers and bring them back, and dogs just bark at them

I never understood why the sims 4 team never bothered with having birds as pets. Maybe bc of the "morality" side of it? na, that's just an excuse. They are lazy as usual. You could let the birds out of the cage on the previous games. in sims 3 you even had a little tree thingie...What a missed opportunity in my opinion. They did a good job with the hamsters on the Stuff Pack. Oh well, Sims 3 wins. Without a doubt! also, low poli birds are awesome! love them :D

I would honestly be shocked if they added actual pet birds to TS4, and they would absolutely sell it as a DLC like My First Pet Stuff. Like, TS4's way of implementing things is so absurd. To get almost everything TS3 had in the Pets expansion pack for $20, people playing TS4 had to buy cats and dogs for $40, a lump sum of rodents for $10, and then horses for $40. $90 for half of everything TS3 had. It'll either be stuff packs or kits that have a small selection of birds. THEN, there will be another one for reptiles.

In TS2 sometimes a flying bird gets stuck at doors. This glitch can only be fixed by removing the door (along with the bird). 💔 So its better to keep the cage closed most of the time.

as always, sims 4 goes for wacky and weird over intuitive and natural. and they do it in a half-assed careless way too, no attention to details. so the result is a gameplay that feels weird and lifeless that the player won't feel connected to
  • I gotta say, there's just something about the way the parrots are animated in Sims 2. It looks like they studied the way birds move so closely and replicated it perfectly (only execption is the flying but oh well, cant have everything) . The sound design is also perfect, the tapping on the bar when they walk around and the noises the make fit so well. Sims 3 birds are also really good but imo missing a little bit of the heartfelt details compared to Sims 2 in regards to presentation. The expanded gameplay is great of course

The Sims birds, be them low res, are still a nice addition to the game. The Sims 2, while only offering the large birds, still enhanced the graphics and gameplay. Sims 3, went above and beyond its predecessors, especially with the ability to pal around town with them, and not only brought back the small birds, but so many more species for both small and large, as well as multiple ways to obtain them. Sims 4 brought back more of the low res, and while there are a couple added nuances, the limitations fall below the even the 1st game. Sims 4 also needs additional packs to add more birds, but the animations and gameplay are not even different (dlc for dlc in Sims 4 DLC Simulator). Clearly, Sims 3 wins here❣
