Through a subscriber, I purchased this 1980 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that's been lying abandoned in a vacant lot for years site unseen way down in Tennesse. It's a one owner, L82, 4 speed, T-top that has had previous work done to it. Of course, I did the right thing before even laying eyes on it, and registered it in a burnout content in Florida! Will it run? Will I make it to the show? Will it even spin the tires? So many questions, A guy's head hurts.

If I ever hit the lottery, I'm funding this channel for the next 20 years.
  • In 1981 I was 17 working as a lot attendant after school at the local Chevrolet dealer when an 1980 Beige Mist Corvette was dropped off by a tow truck a foot in front of the back door of our sales office. It was a repo with no keys. Greaaat. After walking around that Corvette for a couple of months and constantly "reminding" our sole mechanic to fit new keys so we could at least move it I finally took matters into my own hands. I just started taking the column apart until I got down to the switch. As I was removing chunks a snarky salesman came by and told me there was an office pool started with whether I'd get it put back together or fired trying! Well, I got a new switch in and to celebrate I took it for a little 90 minute test drive to see if everything was working correctly. I forget who won the office pool but the next week I got "promoted" to work for the lead-assed mechanic I'd been bugging for two months to fix the Corvette. Greaaat....
  • I’ve been a mechanic for 35 years and I still learn things from vgg all the time thanks Mr D
  • im nearly 50, growing up on a farm with a dad and an uncle that fixed everything this way just brings back memories. My dad would say "the worst thing they ever did was put computers on cars" God rest his soul.
  • That old boy is up there smiling down on you for pulling his car out of the weeds, Derek. Good video.

Its amazing to find something like this just forgotten about, abandoned to the times...and to pull it out of the bushes and get it running is fantastic, this is definitely worth a few dollars and skint knuckles to bring back to life.
  • @SPE3DYEMO
Still some of the prettiest body lines ever made imo.

This has quickly become one of my favorite YouTube channels of all time. I can't tell if the commentary is carefully curated or truly off the top of the head - and that's what makes it so great. As many thumbs up as possible
  • This is the episode that brought me to vice grip garage. It was his laid back attitude to the issues before him that reeled me in. Made me want to watch more. I have probably seen half of the videos at this point. Great dude. Sure wish he was my neighbor!

My grandfather left me a 1981 vette when he passed and its been sitting for most of my life, really enjoyed watching you get this one back on the road!

A guy might have discovered a natural spring there on the drinkers side. They don’t call it a foot “well” for nothin’...

I live in Louisiana and I just evacuated for a hurricane for the second time in a month or so and lost everything I own....twice. This. This video right here is what I needed to pick my spirits off the floor. Thanks guy.

I'm a 70 year old Corvette guy. This video got me hooked on VGG. Best informative and entertaining car vids on YouTube.👍
  • @500erider
It's an L48, rated at 190 h.p. and 280 lb/ft of torque. According to the information available online, the L82 was only available with an automatic transmission.

The deceased original owner of this classic is smiling right now because a little part of his soul is alive again.
  • I like how we can’t see him doing anything when he’s hooking up the remote start and he’s just under there complaining 😂
  • @codylee1209
The rhythm is the bass. and the bass is the treble. 👌
  • I love your sense of humor and the clever names you have for car parts....like "get up and go juice". Lost my mom a few weeks ago, and watching these has just been a good 'cheer me up' time. Thanks so much.
