There's some things you'll never forget like the hum of an old buses engine just brings back memories .
  • Man this takes me back. I used to love the sound of those engines.

I just felt 35 years younger for a few moments. Riding the bus to and from high school. Cool bus and thanks for sharing!
  • Talk about memories for me. I even remember at least one bus still having a manual transmission in regular service on the CTA. This was long before the interest in buses trains and other machinery sunk in deep with me. The covers over the cooling fan area and the transmission side were often an amazing sight to see flapping in the breeze while watching the CTA bus bounce and sway over the many potholes in the city of Chicago back in the day.
  • I also loved seeing you spin around the big wheel without power steering. All of OC Transpo’s New Looks were retrofitted with power steering between 1992 and 95...those that weren’t retired by 95 that is.
  • "There's a bomb on a bus. If it drops below 50, it explodes....what do you do?" The movie speed is all I think of when I see these old GM fishbowl busses. On a more serious note, I'm jealous! I love your bus!
  • Nice to see the old Pierce Transit fishbowl still on the road, I got to see her on display a few times. A bud company where I lived as a kid had a few still working through the 90s and some are still in service today as shipyard worker buses

Wow ! thats remind me some good souvenirs ! I m 50 y-o and remember taking them, every days, to go to college Notre-Dame on Queen Mary St, and transfert for Metro at Snowdon station. The last ones in Montreal city, just before the arrival of the GM Classic, still with those DD 6V Thanks for sharing this !
  • If you were a kid in the 70’s you definitely remember these ol’ girls running the city streets, seems like yesterday, pull the cord dink dink lol.

He had me dying laughing when he was turning the wheel at super speed at 6:42!🤣🤣

Absolutely beautiful. I used to ride something very similar in Chicago many years ago
  • I took these in Halifax as a child. At the time, I didn't like them much and I preferred the GM/MCI Classic series that came afterwards, but now I do miss them over the modern low-floor buses. These could hold more, and the seats were more comfortable.
  • Phoenix had 30 of these 1961 & 1962 versions plus five 1965 models when I was growing up and many were still in service until 1985. 13 of them were 53 passenger and the others were 45 passenger. Our had 6V-92s in them and were air conditioned. Those buses just ran forever and rarely missed a day. Total engine failures (blown completely) were extremely rare. Memories are clear just like yesterday. Thank goodness you didn't destroy it's history by making an RV out if it.
  • I remember these buses when I was a little kid. Would love to ride one again.
  • This sure shows the difference of viability view from inside vs the New Flyer's or Nova buses of toady. They in My opinion, were still the BEST ever made & sad to see them go. Low floor's had to replace hem in the 80's. Never will be the same. Well done for video & hearing that what was known as the screaming gimme.

The sound of music, epic. We never had two strokes in Europe 😢
  • Round of applause. 👋👋👋👋👋These Buses bring a lot of memories for me riding these types of fleets in New York, New Jersey & WESTCHESTER COUNTY.👍✅
