I’m pretty sure this is my chapter of the year. We got so many hype chapters and incredible Lore Piece chapters this year but I haven’t been emotionally hit as hard by a post-timeskip chapter as much as this one. The re-contextualization of the Straw Hats’ journey through Kuma’s perspective. “You will someday save the world.” The waterfall of emotions with Kuma and Bonney. The page flashing through Kuma’s life with the sequential panels of him running (looking like Nika, no less). Vegapunk’s tears. Kuma’s final words. Absolute peak storytelling. I haven’t ugly cried in a long time but I had to take a break from reading this chapter twice to do so. 😭

Chapter of the year. Oda got me again. This made me emotional on the level with Robin’s backstory and the Merry. I was full on bawling.

Remember when Sabi infiltrated Mariejoa and Saw Kuma treated worst than animal??? He said "the kind Kuma our kind kuma". I didn't have any idea how kind he is.

Even though he was a slave the only time Kuma feeling down was the death of his woman. But Bonney lifted his head up again. My man kept running, he's running his last run right now, with broken metal in his body ❤ my man.

One of my favorite flashback to read. Im a sucker of Seeing MC from the lense of a third person. This is not retcon ,this is a Good planning + Good execusion. All reader know Kuma is clearly on a good side but this is just add more dept and make reader understand where Kuma coming from. You know how hard it is to have Kuma save strawhat out of no where and have Bonney cry over seeing Kuma in marineford, then leave that plot line for a decade and come back crazy flashback. This flashback wont work if it was told right away back then. It work because this is actually perfect timing with enough context for us to understand what going on in the world of Onepiece at that time.

What an emotional chapter, who's cutting onions here 😭😭 Now that the flashback is done, it's hands down one the the best flashback in the story. Seems like Kuma didn't know Luffy was Nika, but with Luffy's action was reminiscent of Nika (Liberating the people of Thriller Bark) which pushed Kuma to help Luffy and protecting the Sunny Go . I'm glad Kuma at least got to see Bonney in Saboaby Bonney seeing Kuma full memory and here finding out Luffy will be the savior I think it strengthen the chance of her joining the Strawhats Kuma losing his memory bubble could me mean Oda planning for his sendoff when they return to the present time

This Christmas, Oda wanted to show all of us fans of this series what true fatherhood looks like, sounds like, and acts like. Thank you for this gift, Oda! Thank you for writing Kuma's character. Thank you for this flashback, a crowning achievement in this series. Thank you for this arc, which is an all timer. Above all, thank you for putting pen to paper in 1997 to begin this one of one story. May you have a healthy and prosperous 2024, Eiichiro Oda.

I cried so hard yesterday reading this chapter… later i watched Parvs stream and cried again and not again, shouldn’t have watched it in public…..what a great ending…..listen to mockingbird and you will notice that’s it’s basically kuma & bonney😭😭😭 39:50 that was the leaked chapter by oda hahahahaaaaaa….. 53:28 peak…….. 54:40 My favorite arc just got better and better peak………rewatching all these arcs gone be sooo crazy…

Oh how right Vegapunk was when he said there was nothing but pain in that bubble. Kuma backstory Top 1. When Oda is on his game, there is nothing better than peak One Piece. Unironically peak fiction.
