My coach ruptured his achilles in the exact same way, sliding back and pushing off. He went on to become national champion. That was almost 30 years ago and we know so much more about physical therapy / rehab now. Don't give up, use that fighting spirit and all the best on your road to recovery!

Praying for a speedy and complete recovery!!! I ruptured my right Achilles in October of 2020 and I am thankful that I was able to return to practicing TKD again! I empathize with your current trial and those who have walked through it as well.
