Last time we talked about Minecraft MatPat made his ENTIRE Minecraft Timeline that spanned throughout the early days of Ancient Builders up to current times! Today's episode is about a different ancient discovery… the Sniffer! The Minecraft Sniffer is a peculiar creature, and one that actually has a far more interesting past than you’d think…

Gotta love how it goes from National Geographic to a Minecraft theory
  • @lagill101
I love how all the hosts have been interacting with eachother, it adds a lot of fun and couldn't be done before
  • I'm still impressed at how well the new host were able to replicate Matpat's intonation, the transition went even smoother than I expected.
  • @Cai_Yu
Another thing to note is that the sniffer looks to have a "fur" like coat, like a mammoth which supports the theory that the nether may have very well been through an ice age
  • @L1TTL3_Peep
"So If you do find a sniffer BE KIND TO IT" I already am.They're literally so frick'n cute
  • So how long until the "I know Mattpatt is gone, but I love the new guy stops" And Tom is just accepted as the new host.
  • This was my first game theory from Tom. Honestly, it doesn’t feel much different than Matpat, and hearing that Tom wrote some of the previous theories makes it feel more like I’m at home. Great video and theory overall!
  • I finally can rest in peace knowing that Game Theory made a theory on the Sniffer…

Someone needs to get Tom into a podcast. He’s got the voice for it, very soothing
  • @blueraptorlord
This is a great video! The sniffer is my favorite mob and I was wondering about a lotta these things. I do have one thing to say though: The ancient plants probably weren't the only things the sniffers dug up. Those plants weren't ancient back then, so the sniffers probably dug up other stuff too like sticks, fruits and since they were in the nether they might have even dug up ancient debris! Sniffers were far more useful back then, which makes this theory even better! The more things the sniffers did, the better they would be for the fishermen! They might have even dug up the prismarine in the monuments! Great job guys :)

Also in dogs today we see floppy ears and a different snout which is a left over trait of them becoming more docile and losing neural crest cells. This process is called domestication syndrome and we can see it the the sniffers with their smaller sizes, changed snouts and floppy ears. This also means that pre domesticated sniffers could have had pointier stood up ears and a much shorter snout as shown in the fossil record! so this means that the builders likely bread the sniffers for traits akin to bloodhounds today showing more evidence of selective breading.
  • i’m actually super happy with the new host, i like his voice is perfect and im so glad he’s a nice fit
  • @Garanseho
This is one of my favorite Minecraft theories yet. Everything fits so well--from the fossils to the colors to the behavioral patterns of the mobs--it's all just a bit too coincidental, which means that there's no coincidence at all.
  • 5:09 I just realised if Miami hadn’t removed fireflies then there could have been a feature where fireflies would occasionally get eaten by the pitcher plant. That would have been so cool!
  • @Dino_Boy_2.0
I love how Minecraft has some lore, but it still allows the players to interpret it, in their own way 👍🏾
  • @exMOK
THANK YOU. I've been wondering for ages about what creatures those fossils came from. I still wonder what used to live in the nautilus shells though
