They lost everything. The last three standing at the end of the film on the railway platform. Her eyes beseeching him to step into the future with her and the child. And he, finally agreeing. After all the violence and loss, a new beginning. On my list as the best Western film ever made.

I have never seen an underrated movie like this one

This move went way under the radar. Christian Bale is amazing (like always) along with Wes Studi. Anyone that watches this film will not be disappointed.

Lost my wife on August 27th, 2021 during pregnancy. This gives me a small amount of solace in a chasm that has no depth or end

The best movie portrayal of forgiveness without being cliched

Why this movie is ignored !!! It deserves better attention and recognition

This movie is a cinematic masterpiece. It starts at one end of the emotional spectrum and goes to the absolute opposite.

This movie caught me completely off guard. I started crying out off nowhere when I understood the message the movie conveys so beautifully: that we are all the same, but sometimes we can't help but see only that which makes us different. Once we make an effort to treat each other as individuals not as members of a group, though, we can see clearly who we are as a whole once again.

Max Richter is a freaking genius
  • Remember the last scene when he climbs the train? It was such a perfect ending.
  • Captain Joe: " get back inside your tent u gonna freeze" Seargent: " i don't feel anything. "

This film is a masterpiece that takes to the heart. A psychological, violent and profound western, which breaks the codes of the classic western. There are no bad men or good men, just people trying to get out of hell whether it is outside or inside their heads. Wonderful!

I really appreciated this movie. It didn't give us the usual boring "white man bad" story we've seen a hundred times. It was very nuanced and explored all the grey zones of the conflicts between the white and native americans. Neither side is truly heroic or truly evil but have big flaws.

Sometimes I envy the finality of death. The certainty. And I have to drive those thoughts away when I'm weak...

"We will never get used to God's rough ways, but in times like these that i should believe in him, because if i dont have faith what would i have."

I stumbled across the soundtrack for this here on YouTube and after reading comments of people saying it's an underrated movie I watched it and wow, it's a brilliant film

I will never understand why this movie did not earn a single Oscar / Academy Award for its story, acting, and music? This movie touches the heart on so many different levels of every human emotion.

the whole film is about how inescapable barbarity is. thats why at the end he gives him Caesars chronicles of the gallic wars to show him its possible to defeat it
