Welcome to our YouTube channel! In today's episode, we are thrilled to take you along on an exciting journey of reviving a forgotten classic: this 1955 Chevy. Join us as we embark on this captivating adventure to rescue this vintage gem from almost going to the scrapyard! Super sketchy getting it down this big hill in Iowa (it actually used to be further up but the new buyers of this house didn't want it there). We fought timing, carb problems, brakes and batteries! But the dump truck made it home 150 miles!

Awesome work gents! As a Baby Boomer gear head it warms my heart that young folks like yourselves are interested in old cars and have acquired the mechanical skills to get them up and running. Gives me some hope for the future of our currently f*^ked-up country.

My dad had a 55 Chevy stepside pickup back in the 60s. It had a floor starter and 3 on the tree. I learned how to drive a stick in it. I wish I had it now.

I’m jealous. That is a cool old Chevy truck! One of my favorite years.

In 1975 I learned to drive in a 1955 Chevy PU. It had the original bed on it but besides that it looked very much like this truck. Broken window and rusted out floorboards. Vacuum windshield wipers. 3 on the tree, used to get stuck in 1st gear had to move the shift linkage at the firewall. Gas tank leaked behind the seat. I went to senior prom in that truck ! Was a hot mess with sheets covering hole in the seat. *GOOD TIMES !*

Wax is a old school trick for no seize. I actually just seen a Short on melting crayons on top of seized threads to break it loose. But my grandfather taught me about wax
  • I have two 235 6 bangers still in the crates bought new in 1957 from GM. Completed, ready to drop & drive. Some day I might find a use for them. Just like the day they were made.

Looking forward to seeing the standard bed on the dump frame.

I find it entertaining watching these young bucks trying to get this truck engine started. I grew up working on these things and find myself telling them what they're doing wrong. I could have had that thing running in no time flat.

I'm a gen X, seeing you 2 young guys saving what I call treasures makes me happy.

I dunno how well it does in engine revivals, but I know on two-stroke engines that canned fuel is crap. If you got a two stroke that won't start, drain that canned fuel out and put some real fuel in. Nice truck. We had a '65 chevy dump truck about that size when I was a kid. We'd take it to the creek and load it with gravel and then dump it in our driveway to our barn whenever the driveway started to get a wallow or a muddy spot. It spent most of its time parked on a hill in a field too though, lol.

I used to have a 55 Chevy with a wraparound back glass I would love to have another one
  • I'll tell you one thing it makes an older man feel pretty damn good to see younger generation doing what you do. Pretty damn awesome guys keep up the good work 💪

Being a fella in my mid 60 I've drove a lot of those ole trucks. Can't beat them very reliable 🤪. You just don't want to be in a hurry to get where you're going 🤠. Thanks 👍 for sharing.🎉on.
