In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will present on COVID-19- Coronavirus: Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, Diagnostics.

What is Corona virus? What is COVID-19? Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by SARS-COV2 is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously identified in humans.

Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death (WHO, 2020).

As new information and research is published we will continue to provide updates on COVID-19 and ensure all of our viewers are kept up to date on the most recent data. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!

This is the thing that we should be seeing daily in news, not the non-sense toilet paper panic or financial chaos.
  • @clmorgan7
This guy is the teacher we all wanted in early university education
  • @RR-nl2ep
Anyone that has this, good luck to you. Stay strong and do not give up. This thing is brutal!
  • Not every professor, teacher, or instructor has the gift to teach well, but you sir do, and we are all indebted to you. Thank you so very much.
  • @Bhaijani
I am a Physician in practice .You have explained the entire journey of COVID 19 and it is difficult to get any better .You made the things so simple and clear that it is very easy to follow . Excellent presentation and may GOD bless you
  • I never comment on YouTube videos. I am writing this as a scientist, a mentor, volunteer EMT, and instructor - this has been the BEST description and illustration. You are a very talented teacher and artistic. I inspire to be a great teacher like you.

This guy is the teacher we all wanted

I have my PHD and doctorate in virology and I have conducted many TedX and University lectures. I just want to say this video is really good.
  • Thank you very much! You put so much heart into this. I have had to study all my life, but no one has ever so clearly presented and highlighted the essence of the disease.
  • @mahanawaz5422
This is amazing, I am a 7th grade student trying to learn about the Science behind Covid, and your video was just so clear and easy to follow especially with the helpful drawings. Even though I didn't understand some of the terminology, I was able to understand the concepts and how Covid takes over our body. Thank you so much, keep it up!
  • @Filmyism
If all my professors taught like this, I'd definitely feel that my college degree would be 100% worth the money.
  • @cunn1n6ham
This dude isn’t just smart, but an unbelievably fluid speaker...impressive
  • @beckyjofarley
Where was this guy when I was struggling with med school?! Thanks for sharing your knowledge in this format!
  • I am a teacher doing distance learning, I wish I knew how to get a setup like this. Nice lighting, no glare. Any advice would be great. Great content btw
  • @kaalen24
This is fascinating. Additionally, this guy isn’t reading any of this. He is demonstrating the processes involved with Covid-19 from memory with all its various potential symptoms and resulting diseases. Pretty incredible...
  • It's already been said by others, but I need to say it too. This guy needs to teach others how to teach. If my uni profs were like this, I feel like I would have absorbed two or three times as much info. Most of my classes in molecular biology / chemistry were just straight memorization of formulas, metabolic cycles, diagrams etc or watching the prof write notes for us to copy down. I feel like this method refreshes what you've learned before, provides new information specific to this topic, and ties everything together with real-world applicability so that you can retain it. Dude's a whiz.
  • @SillyB_21
I just love how as soon as he start explaining something I instantly understand and learn it ❤️
  • Thank you for providing very comprehensive explanation, in aspects of epidemiology, diagnostic and pathophysiology - by which the disease occurs. It help us to have more understanding about these characters of COVID 19.
