FUN FACTS: It’s a trap, so don’t fall in -My reviews are factual/truthful EVEN if you DON’T LIKE ME, I can say what I want without hesitation -Gauntlet 1 & 2 have different rate of twist, 22cal confirmed by Umarex - Gauntlet 1 & 2 barrels are reversed, G1 has thin lands, G2 has thick lands -G1 is setup for lighter/shorter projectiles, smaller porting, slower twist rate -G2 is setup for heavier/longer projectiles, bigger porting, faster twist rate -Gauntlet 2 is unfinished, barrel needs reamed farther down, G1 is fine from factory -You should NOT have to pay extra to have the G2 made correctly -You can be more accurate with a break barrel than G2 using lighter pellets -Be careful who you trust because they maybe a shill to the airgun industry

Big difference in reviews between people who were sent the gun for review and those who bought it and then did a review, so that says a lot. If you're going to use it with slugs or heavier pellets that's fine but everything you pointed out is vital to know for people who plan on buying the gun. No hate here HaHa. Thanks James

Thank you James for another great video and review. I'm certain that us Air gunners appreciate you bringing things like these to our attention. Keep up the good work. 👍

We need more honest people like your self to tell the things like this. it's bad they sell these guns the way they are👍
  • I've spent literally thousands of dollars on Umarex products, as I'm sure a lot of us out here have, and I gotta admit that this is very disappointing. For whatever reason I was never really interested in buying a Gauntlet, but that dont mean that I'm not seriously bothered by this. I've had a great experience with Umarex so far...they've literally sent me brand new guns to replace guns that broke on me and I was very impressed with that because they did it no questions asked. I've been following you for a long time now and developed a lot of trust in what you say, so please keep us posted with any new developments. Thanks James.
  • I like what you said about the pellet, I checked my .25 and it is way into the barrel but what is interesting, the rear of the pellet hangs out past the air port not good in my book....keep up the no bull shit reviews.....Great
  • Excellent review. I just got my gen 1. It was on sale. I could not pass it up for 2 bills. What I noticed was some very cheap qualities about it. But. watching videos I also saw good things about it. Accuracy has been one of the positive. These days we are getting crap sold to us.

My boy is a machinist that makes his own parts and was a barrel maker. He, I believe, would give you a congrats. For giving this company a major wakeup and fly right kik in the ass!
  • @michaelbond6351
Dude you saved me about 500 bucks thanks for the video my guy!
  • @russwilliams291
The Gen 1 .25 had the stiffest bold action I have ever encountered on any rifle.
  • I thoroughly enjoy my Umarex gauntlet 22 and 25 calibers. I don't understand why Umarex did not make their second version with a side lever, I just don't understand. I was thinking of getting one, but when I found out they still made it bolt action that in itself was a deal-breaker.

Thanks man. Good video. I trust you and youtuber extreme airguns when it comes to ballistics and the guts of airguns. I just subscribed even though I have watched many of your previous videos. Thanks for exposing the frauds.
  • @Dont_lose_sight
I just ordered and waiting for one and i saw your video, I have been watching your videos a while, nice work, by the way! Thanks for the heads up and sounds like i will be swapping out my old G1 barrel, AS YOU said will work, and DonnyFL shortShroud, etc, and make up for your errors of point! Thank you for being honest and EXPLAINING, rather than using conjecture. I believe in DATA gathering.
  • Thanks James. Good info on the g2, everyone is just trying to upsell it to you as soon as it came out. Im still saving for a new pcp just not sure what to get yet. My collection of the g1, eagle claw , aea varmint and avenger still work and get the job done so not in a rush to spend. Good videos brother, very informative and always fun to watch.
  • @dvt6481
Thanks for the great review. I most wasted a extra $120 for the gen2 .
  • Another great informative video by the B.B. king. Keep up the great work king.
  • @marvel.23
You have stated many truths about the G2 barrel deficiencies. I wish other compensated "reviewers" out there were as open about the weapons they reviews. Amazing that a company like Umarex with huge R&D budgets can overlook a fact like rifling encroaching on proper projectile seating in the breech. This was done by design for some unknown reason...and I'm sure you will find out who or what is behind this. Good work...stay honest.
  • Interesting read. Any “shill” updates? I just received .25 G1 at the $200 sell price. It shoots well but waiting on milder weather before much more target use. However, no way would I pay the G2 price. JSB Match Diabolo Exact King .25 Cal, 25.39 and JSB Match Diabolo Exact King MKII Heavy .25 Cal, 33.95 both “snap in” but not hard to seat. Pushing pellet back out show rifling on the head and skirt of both pellets. My .22 Cal AF SS shows rifling only on head of pellet.
