Bury me in the ocean, with my ancestors that jumped from the ships, because they knew death was better than bondage.

This makes me so sad. Just thinking of the heat, the smell, the pain and how scared they must have been, breaks my heart.

Those enslaved people lived through unimaginable horror...I don't think anyone could even understand how horrible it was to be in that situation, even that of the crew.
  • @naggedd
how could someone do this to another human being?
  • @lolidek18
Yall don’t understand how horrible this. We can’t even imagine...

Talking about a topic like this makes me sick to my stomach knowing people treated other people in such an inhumane way, my heart goes out to everyone who had to go through such a hellish life

This made me feel so uncomfortable, but I'm glad it did. It means I learned something and I'm becoming just slightly less ignorant. Education helps combat ignorance

R.I.P to the ancestors! I've always been taught to live a good and decent life so that your sacrifice wouldn't be in vain

And there’s still so much we don’t know happened to our ancestors
  • Just knowing our ancestors went through such evil attrocities causes a deep sadness and anger for what they suffered through.

Watching from Ireland 🇮🇪. I'm speechless. How in the name of all that is sacred, can American politicians stand up and speak about, " the land of the free ". Hypocrisy at its very worst. I feel sick after watching this, and very glad that I live in a country that never tried to bully any other nation on earth. 🇮🇪💚🇮🇪Gerry Farry
  • It scares me seeing what a human is capable of doing to other humans.
  • @dunemae
I can’t imagine how people are able to do things like this to others. Truly disgusting.
  • I look at my son and daughter (mind you, I'm not of african decent) and when I read or see these things, I can't help but think about them and feel how absolutely soul crushing it must be as a parent to have had your children on board with you on something so hellish like that. Truly, humans can be the cruelest beings. I cant fathom the suffering of those people.

The slaves were chained to one another and thrown over board. It’s unimaginable the horror they went through.

Telling people of African descent to get over slavery is like telling descendants of Holocaust survivors to get over it

In school we never learnt anything like this. As my history teacher told me we only need to know the basic history of slavery and nothing else. I went to Ghana and went to Cape Coast castle and spend the day there and experienced what it was like for our ancestors. Rest in Peace our beloved ancestors, gone BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!!
