I love snooker from the 70s and 80s. Referees that were about 80 years old, deaf, blind and easily confused.

Interesting fact is the Robidoux made such a fuss about Ronnie playing left handed that Ronnie was called to a meeting to explain his actions at a disciplinary board. He argued that he was just as skilled with his left than he was with his right. They made him play 3 frames of snooker against former world semi finalist Rex Williams and stated he could only play left handed shots. He won all 3 framesβ¦.

That ref was as deaf as a post, because I heard Cliff Thorburn nominate the green ball all the way from 2021.
