You need a longer tool rest turned around to be closer to the wood - safer and better tool control.

This is something to try out and play with, then give it to the kids to play with. I believe this little lathe was sold in a kids kit back in the 80s. I could be very wrong, though.

Use for polishing rings and similar items.

Would this be able to handle turning wooden yoyos (walnut, oak)? Would be turning already made puck blanks from a hole saw and use this to shape it, pucks around 60mm max.

Hi Chuck I have this lathe what are you using at the chuck end to hold the wood, is it that mandrel that was included. Great video thank you. šŸ˜ƒ
  • Has anyone tried putting the Tool Rest, on the other way around. It looks like that might be how it was designed to install. I can't imagine turning anything larger than the throat of the lathe. (Half max diamiter "the radius") . With the way it is set up you could have your tool rest at one and a half radius. Try Flipping The Tool Rest Around.
  • Chuck, excellent review! May I ask, where did you find your lathe tools? These would be an ideal size for those of us with small hands. Thanks!

maybe you know how to remove the chuck from this device?
  • Carving chisels are not useful for wood turning. You need real wood turning chisels.
  • @GunninWizard
Save your money I got this and it was pure shit. I returned yesterday. No power soon as you put the chisel to it the motor stops. Barely has power to turn and screeches like a screaming cat. Get a real one. This piece of shit will make you never wanna wood turn again.

So you wasted your money on this piece of crap so you could make another piece of crap?
