ANN WILSON STORY: FROM THE HEART
(Originally aired on Discovery Health Channel - March 13, 2004)

This documentary is about Heart vocalist Ann Wilson lifelong struggle with weight loss and her decision to undergo lapband surgery in 2002. It's a very candid and personal chronicle of her personal bravery during this difficult juncture in her life. She emerged from this struggled with one of Heart's best albums to date, JUPITER'S DARLING. This documentary includes live clips from that era, as well as some early home movies of the Wilson sisters.

I recorded this directly from the original broadcast to VHS, which I later transferred to VCD. I can't find the original VHS copy though. It's mostly complete, but I know I didn't get 100% of the original program. Since I'm not seeing this anywhere else on YouTube, I thought I'd share it here on my channel. If I ever do find my other copy, I'll upgrade this one.

The truth is that Ann is beautiful, no matter how much she weighs. Nobody can sing like she can. Her voice is one of the best in Rock and she is the reason Heart became so successful.

What is there not to love about Ann Wilson? She has always been a beautiful lady - that long dark hair, almond-shaped eyes, round face, full lips. In her interviews you can tell she is not only beautiful, but very strong and intelligent - and of course, that powerful voice. Whether she’s singing or just talking, you’ve got to love it!

Insane that there is this 40+ minute documentary all about one woman’s weight 🤨 Ann Wilson is sincerely one of the most gorgeous women in the world, at any age, at any weight. Even before she starts singing, she is smoking hot! Then, the voice. Then, the utterly brilliant mind, heart, and soul. I can’t fathom how anyone could inflict such cruelty toward such a pure, beautiful inside and out human being. Our society’s obsession with weight is so out of control. Ann Wilson deserved and deserves so much better than ever for one moment feeling like she isn’t beautiful. Every aspect of her being is pure beauty.

Who couldn't love this woman, she's always been beautiful no matter what she's weighed and what a voice; who cares about the image, she's a master musician and entertainer who can connect with her fans. Who gives a damn about what the critics think - most of the time they are wrong anyway and the real music lovers know it. Good music will always sell and Heart made some of the best amidst tough competition. Your fans Love you Ann ; please don't listen to the musically stupid & keep jamming 😊

I've loved Heart's music since the 1975-76 Dreamboat Annie days. I was fortunate to see them in Maryland in 1982. What a great show/band. They have brought so much joy to so many. I could care less who looks like whatever. It's all about the musicians, their hard work, and dedication to their music. By the way, their performance of "Stairway to Heaven" in 2012 at the Kennedy Center Honors was amazing! Thanks...

I’m a 64 year old midwest dwelling American man living in rural Arkansas. I had the privileged of seeing Ann, Nancy, and the boys of Heart live in concert at Barton Coliseum in Little Rock back in the late ‘80s. I’ve been listening to their music and Ann’s wondrous gifted singing voice since my high school days in the mid-70s. I LOVE Ann Wilson! THE most powerful female voice in Rockdom and HANDS-DOWN, my all-time favorite female vocalist. Hearing Ann singing her songs, whether on the gentler side or pushing her pipes to the limit, is a moving, soul-stirring experience! When she’s really pushing her vocal limits it’s GOOSEBUMP CITY for me! My heart thrills to the sound of Ann singing her songs! And to learn thru interviews that she’s given how down to earth, unpretentious and thoughtful she is, regardless of her Rock-Goddess status, makes me love that woman all the more as a person — a good human being — a sister in our big family of mankind. Much Love and Thanks to Ann and Nancy Wilson for all the years of sharing their soul-stirring gifts of music with their fellow brothers and sisters of Planet Earth!❤️
