The Cubex DR 540 installing steel casings.

Published 2011-07-21
This is a Cubex DR 540 DTH Drill installing an 18 foot length of steel casing. There is a ring bit on the bottom that a casing bit locks into and they both drill the casing into the ground...works great! The music in this video is not owned by me. It was being played on the satellite radio that was in the drill.

@bullerrovers - I have also used the 1120 and the 1320. These are nice drills in my opinion. Thank you for the question. Have a great day, mate.

@bullerrovers - The casings are used when there is alot of over burden (broken ground) on top of the bedrock. They are drilled a foot or so into bedrock and this makes it much easier and more effecient to drill the production holes. As I'm sure you know, its a bitch to keep a hole in badly broken ground. Casings solve this problem. We use alot of types of hammers. Sandvik, Halco, RockHog and Copco's. I drill in Canada, the home of Cubex!

@portboypj - It is an awesome drill. But you're wrong. Its a Generation V 920...or (540) now that Sandvik got their mitts on it.) The 'Dolomite' video I have posted is the same drill, you can clearly see the 920 model number if you won't take my word for it. Go ahead...take a look.
