Lebanon is known around the world for its hashish. In the Beqaa Valley farmers grow it with impunity, making millions of dollars a year. Backed by armed militiamen, the country's drug lords have became untouchable. Benjamin Zand visits one of the biggest drug lords, and finds out how the civil war in neighbouring Syria means the farms have been able to flourish.

  • smh, you broke the only rule of journalism when it comes to interviewing these kind of people, if they allowed you to film something that most people would get shot for just asking about, then do not betray their trust.

  • Lebanese people are some of kindest people on Earth. I'm Croatian, and Lebanese doctor saved my life in Zagreb hospital. Forever thankful!
  • My neighbours are from Lebanon. They moved to London 4/5 years ago, lovely family, really good people, I smoke weed with eldest son who's in his 20's. One thing I want to say about them is when they moved in, not long after my dad passed away, leukaemia. When the funeral hearse left from outside our home for the funeral, all the family came outside and watched, they didn't say a word. A week or two later there was a knock on the door, I opened it to find the husband and wife with freshly cooked food, huge plates of rice, chicken, all sorts. I was a bit taken back by it, then they gave their condolences, I said you didn't have to do all this, he said no we have to do this, we are neighbours. I almost started to well up. As I said, lovely people.
  • Not even a drug lord, more like a tribal leader that grows cannabis and protects his lands.

Title should be: Snitching on a Lebanese Drug Lord - BBC Pop Up (FULL FILM) - BBC News
  • Im half irish half Lebanese. Both my parents escaped civil wars, my parents were very loving but in a cold way. It pushed me to grow up pretty quickly. I had a pretty good social view of the world by 6-7 years old and still have alot of those same views. I love Lebanon.
