There was no shortage of pharmacists. Cvs put burden of 3, 4 people's job on one pharmacist during covid and driven many pharmacists out of cvs. It was all about money 💰 not about caring patients nor employees

If companies like cvs and Walgreens treated their staff better, actually stopped cutting hours for support staff and those stupid metrics, maybe they’ll have staff that will actually want to stay. There isn’t a shortage of pharmacists, just a shortage of pharmacists willing to work in those poor conditions - I had days working 12+ hour shifts with no lunch break and no bathroom breaks because I was the only one working at the pharmacy. The greed to maximize profits is showing. - ex retail pharmacist

Please please pay attention to what actual retail pharmacists are saying. Same amount of work done in less hours with less help mean more burnt out expected. Pharmacists are not machines. We have to stop this nonsense of poor working environment of pharmacy!!!!
  • Before I left CVS, upper management had cut our staff so much there were times only two people were operating the whole store. One lone pharmacist with no techs scrambling to answer the five phone lines, run the rx registers, give shots, and input/adjudicate/fill/check prescriptions, while the Store Manager was running the front end registers, checking in vendors, doing paperwork, and stocking the shelves. I have worked for many companies in my 40 year career. CVS is the only company I call evil. I support the Kansas City CVS pharmacists who walked off the job last week.

Former CVS front store employee here. It hurt me to the core hearing the last pharmacist that was on our team said he was going to have to come in early and stay later. He's on salary so it's dirty that pharmacists are indoctrinated like this 💔
  • There is no staff shortage. There is an entire staff that needs and wants hours. It's an excuse.

The work is hard and the pay has become stagnant

Some stores don’t have a bathroom in the pharmacy so I was told if I had to go I had to close the pharmacy because the technicians can’t be in there alone !!!!!

I just quit my cvs job and I should have done it a lot sooner the Pay is just not worth the stress of it all.

Chains put more and more on your plate which includes extra clinical responsibility. You have to come in early and leave late to keep your head above water. It's playing beat the clock all day long while being timed and measured by a computer for over the top metrics to meet. The pharmacy is short staffed making the pharmacist to have to tech and cashier work. You're on your legs 12 plus hours and no stool is allowed. Patients are loud, rude and threatening , and corporate supports this bad behavior with gift cards . The store can be a hostile work place if you have a store manager who is jealous of the young pharmacist who makes more money than the manager.(think back stabbing at every opportunity). There is no extra compensation for the extra work ,stress and responsibility. The stress is unsustainable for your physical and mental health.
  • I hope the store it’s self is not closing I have for years gotten medication over the counter for middle of the night sickness which happen every year with a husband and kids also including myself

it will continue not just in the pharmacy but the front store as well. employees work alone for 2 to 3 hours very unsafe conditions. Arizona is the worst in having no help hey hive tons of work New operation tasks but how labor hours to do it. Managers looking for other jobs. already lost 4 due to the extreme working conditions and expectations. CVS cares nothimg about there employees
  • @sandpquan
To CVS: You caused this staffing shortage. Your intentional understaffing in the past to save on payroll dollars has made the working conditions so bad no one wants to work for you. Now you want to shorten the business hours and have the same amount of work done in less time. Is this an improvement in working conditions? No. You are just doing it to save more payroll dollars.
  • They don't want to pay for clerks and cut it back to one person. I do always see the same pharmacist there when there use to be two that split the hours.

Too many vandals stealing from these stores

Customers bitch about our half hour closing for lunch At 1:10 a bunch of people start lining up before our 1:39 close time to beat the clock And we can’t get thtu all of them so have to tell them sorry we r closing for lunch and pull the gate down
