A V8 pick-up truck is the embodiment of the USA on wheels. Huge, powerful, and not intimidated by anything. Ford’s Raptor and the Dodge Ram TRX take the truck into new realms of power, performance and off-road ability… but that’s never enough for some people. People like Texan John Hennessey, who’s used the Ram TRX as the starting point for what they call the Mammoth 1000: the most powerful road-legal truck in the world. With 1,012 supercharged horsepower on tap, Baja-spec suspension and bumpers that could knock over buildings, it’s surely the most versatile, apocalypse-proof car on Earth. But just because it works in Texas, is it as useful in the wilds of England? Top Gear magazine’s Ollie Kew has been finding out – after he’s saved up for a tank of fuel…

The fuel price alone tells you when they filmed this!
  • @zap2002
"It's utterly absurd" should be in the sales brochure for this :D
  • @guyjmlol
Richard Hammond would be absolutely buzzing to play with this American truck 😂💯
  • “Just because you can give a truck 1000 hp doesn’t mean you should” Me: it sure as hell means you should 😂😂
  • @ronvanr5359
With trucks it’s towing, payload, and off road ability. Handling for trucks is like towing capacity for a sports car.
  • @GrEeCe_MnKy
I'd love to see Hammond driving one of these

If you can buy a 120k + import it from the US + pay the duty on it you most definitely can afford to fill it up. Fuel consumption a ridiculous objection for this kinda car it's not made for it. If you are concerned about fuel use Suzuki lol
  • You know it's UK when the only tuff off-road is mud left behind by a tractor on tarmac😂😂
  • This is funny because as a guy from Alaska the TRX and the power wagon are the smaller trucks I see people taking their Kodiak 6500 through the McDonald's drive through in soldotna 😂
  • @Big_Black_Dick
😀 that little kid u drove by standing on the sidewalk wit his moms was so hyped to see the truck drive by lol u could hear him yelling about the truck lol 😂
  • My neighbor has a TRX, not a mammoth but he's done a little work under the hood and he says it pushing similar if not more power than the mammoth. I had a go in it and I didn't want to give it back 😅

Don't forget this is a full size 4 x 4 truck, even though it has super car acceleration it still handles and drives like a full size truck. You may think this has no place in the UK, but here in the US trucks are one of the best selling vehicles. Hooray for Hennessey!
  • America has their moments when they come out with Brilliant cars. Take the GT350R or the C7 Z06..Heck the Hellcat too. I love America for making this real. The rest of the world gets 4 cylinder diesel shitboxes with less power than a 86. America gets this.

No dirt roads were hurt in the making of this review.

I remember so well when Clarkson tested an F150 Hennessey in the mountains, that episode was iconic. Miss the old Top Gear

That power is perfect for the dunes of Southern California, the brake are fine in slowing down in the sand, but on UK streets, probably not the best place for it. Also note, the computer on the truck registers US gallons (3.8L), if you want a UK conversion (4.5L), you need to add about 20% to the US number on the trip computer.

LMAO!! this is british humor at its best. THANKS! as an Italian transplanted to Texas, I can relate to some sensation from the video.. ohh.. btw, just a correction: the TRX is based on the RAM 1500 which is a full size but the small kid in the family.. (there are many pics of 3500 class pickups with a Smart car on the bed.. ) again, probably one of the best video on the tube, thanks for making it
