In this episode we take a look at why the iPhone 12 was banned from sale in France. Why did it happen? and how much radiation do phones give off anyway?

I repaired microwave ovens and CRT displays for 40 years, I would have died if not for the tin foil hat that I wore, my customers thought it was a fashion statement.

Many people don't know that light is also a type of electromagnetic radiation.
  • @AdamSchadow
Radiation is a lot more complicated than you make it out to be but in general phones are safe since there is no reason to have for example a xray emitter inside. The concerning part about this whole story is the way the government seemed to only be concerned about watts per kg which is only one of several metrics that can determine how dangerous radiation can be.
  • Funny thing is smartphone usage is so widespread, there is no more a "control group" they will need to pay some people very heft sums to stay in isolation for long years to compare their data to their counterparts.

In the 1990's I worked in video duplication. We had an electro magnetic tape eraser. We used to joke about how the store guys should check their privates for radiation. One day someone came in and tested it. The company turned it off the next day.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:41 📱 Radiation from smartphones is electromagnetic and falls in the nonionizing category, not having enough energy to cause DNA damage or cancer. 02:51 ⚠️ Ionizing radiation (like X-rays) with higher frequencies and energy levels can damage DNA and increase cancer risk, but smartphones emit nonionizing radiation. 05:13 🧪 Studies show inconsistent correlations between cell phone use and brain tumors; some studies suggest a link, but most indicate no direct association. 06:21 🧪 Largest control study suggests no significant increase in brain or nervous system cancers due to mobile phone use, but findings remain inconclusive due to various factors. 08:54 ⚡ The iPhone 12 exceeded the safe radiation limit set by France, prompting a ban based on principle, although the excess radiation was deemed unlikely to cause harm due to its low magnitude. I’m halfway into this video and I realize this is all highschool stuff everyone must have forgotten. I think I’ve learned about different radiations and amplitude vs freq stuff in at least 7 different college classes in enough detail to deduce how not dangerous most radiation is

What is weird is that the phone is 3 years old at this point, makes me wonder why ban it now? How much was Apple still selling it even?
  • @GianlucaAiello
Lots of info missing Gogo… why France measurament was different from EU (distance), why the phone emits radiation (to connect to cellular lines), what’s the benefit of higher radiation (better signal), how a software update can fix hardware problem, and so on :/

Love you dude. PLZ continue your work!!!! THANK YOU for every single video <3
  • @micesserono2966
Fun fact: a distance of a few centimeters between the phome and the head is considered for the legal measurment of phone radiation energy on the brain. Of course we all hold our phones at a secure distance from our heads when calling 😅

It's so reassuring and trustworthy when FDA or CDC says "we believe", lol

Thanks for the episode. I remember in the 90's this discussion was much more on the news, then suddenly, we heard nothing anymore. Quite a surprise it raised again.

I bought new phone and thought it was very strange that in the box it came with a paper full of warnings about radiation exposure. It said not to sleep with the device, keep it in your pocket for long periods, keep it away from other devices such as TVs and microwaves, and turn it off when not in use. Why would it give me these warnings if it was safe?
  • @Retly_Ai
Just strange how people can’t understand the difference between ionizing and non ionizing radiation.

I have been in the telecom industry for over 10 years. Thanks Dagogo for making this factual video. Many people are misinformed about radiation.

Thanks for openly covering this topic and in detailed explanation❤
