In my years of teaching different kinds of students ages 2-55 years old, I realize that it is not the student’s job to adjust to you and your preference. It’s the other way around, you, the teacher, must adapt to different personalities and situations. For this video commentary, I will be sharing with you how to effectively teach RUDE and BORED teenagers. #ESLtips #Acadsoc #TeachaKaren

Teacher I also experience a rude 7 year old student, the worst part is she called me "You're ugly"🤣 what I did I typed "Teacher is beautiful" and let her read it. She rolled her eyes🤣
  • @faichicken
when she said "love you" i guess it was genuine bc teenagers nowadays are kinda bossy or like know-it-all but it's natural and sometimes they don't realize they're being rude or they don't consider it as a rude thing. i think it would be easy for me to ignore that and not make it a big deal. i still like her for saying she loves you bc i guess u didn't reprimand her owo. nice job teach!

Great points here, Karen. And while I do think I have great self control, there is always that one student who will eventually get the best of me and I don't mind telling them what I think of them. If they are disrespectful then I will say so. We are not their doormats.

i think Filipinos including teachers teaches not just academics but also good moral lessons.. i learned in the states they are not as strict as Filipinos too..
  • I've learnt that questions such as these are quite useful: "I see a problem in this sentence. Do you see it?" "Why can't we use this verb?" "Would you like a link to practise [topic]?" I've found that this places the ball in the student's court. It also gets them thinking and analysing their work. STT can also be maximised in this way.

  • Hi, Teacha Karen! Thank you for the suggestions. I can tell you know English off by heart. I had just begun working as a Business English teacher when one of my first students shocked me with a very rude response. I wish I'd seen your videos sooner. In any case, this is extremely beneficial. Keep up the good work.
