Published 2024-01-09
Everyone is grappling with how AI will impact jobs, scientific discoveries, our daily lives… But what happens when artificial intelligence finds its way into the hands of artists, photographers, and writers? Join host Jacob Goldstein for a live taping of his podcast, What’s Your Problem?, as he sits down with writer Stephen Marche (Death of an Author), photographer Charlie Engman and composer Lucas Cantor Santiago, all creatives who are using this technology to advance their artistic practices, for a discussion that aims to answer the question: will AI kill creativity?

This program is presented as part of the NielsenIQ Series on Artificial Intelligence.

  • If it is misused, yes, it can absolutely kill "creativity" as far as financially incentivised human-made original creative works. It will, if misused, cause mass starvation, poverty, homelessness, civil unrest and even neofeudal oppression in the form of a sweeping culture where a tiny portion of society owns everything and everyone else owns nothing. This is not an absolute certainty, and can be averted if used properly - but as AI is currently being used, this is the world and consequence towards which we as a species are barreling, even cheering for in some cases.
