Tanzania Big Game Hunt during Lockdown - Conservation Hunting at its best

Published 2021-02-28
Hunting in Africa is an essential part of conservation through sustainable utilization. Without legal, ethical hunts like this, these wild areas will be overrun by cattle and villages. In the process all wildlife will be poached out.

Please support our effort by giving this video a thumbs up.

Even through Covid restrictions we all found a way to make it to Tanzania for Greg's annual hunt. This year we are joining up with Greg in the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania. Our host is Game Trackers Africa. We stayed in their Utunge main camp but most of our big game hunting was done from a fly-camp three hours away. This was the most luxurious and well set up fly-camp I've ever been in!

Gregery harvested a beautiful old male lion, two dagga-boy bulls and a bunch of plains game. The leopard eluded us again, but Greg will be back in 2021.

You can really tell he was super happy and proud of his hunting adventure. The first week was slow and I kind of felt like the first PH wasn’t really in the hunt like he should have been or just inexperienced. he was absolutely full of fun vibe and seemed like a awsome dude to be around. He had soo much respect for everyone on that Safire.
  • Had a similar experience in Zim. The celebration and pure love it something out of this world. Congratulations!
  • Guide : " A Little bit old " Greg : are you Talking about me ? The guy is so funny and full of energy despite his age 😂 he is the best

I re-watch your videos every few months. I just love them. But my favorite ones are the ones that feature Greg. He just seems like such a cool guy. Always so positive and has something humorous to say. I'd love to meet him one day. Thanks again for your videos. I hope that you get to make them for many many years to come.

Greg is a legend. I love the middle finger termite mound, what he thinks of all us folks back home :D
  • Nothing goes to waste in Africa. Meat protein is a vital commodity in Africa. Hunter, guides and trackers eat some small portion of meat around the camp fires. The remainder is turned over to the local chef-tons or numerous orphanages. The hunters take the trophies . So it is a win/ win situation. Americans, Europeans have never been truly hungry, so they do not understand.
  • This was the very first African Sun Productions video that I watched when it first came out 3 years ago. The length of the film actually does the whole "virtual safari" thing the justice it deserves. The ambience of the miombo woodlands, with its countless birds calling nonstop, and just generally looking like anything could pop up around the next corner, is truly quintessential Africa. That lion was beautiful, too. I must say though that Jaco doesn't seem like the friendliest chap around. Very serious and always seems annoyed whenever Greg makes a joke. I wasn't there, so I really am no authority here, but the vibe between the PH and client was quite uncomfortable.
