Love that Valve core removal tool with sight glass… no more guessing!
-
I would try a hard start to see if that would brake loose compressor
-
Curtis you need try with use Megaohmeter Fluke 1587
-
Check capacitor by checking amps and volts if cap is good you will read both if volts and no amps cap is open if amps but no volts cap is shorted this will trip breaker it happens to dual capacitors more often and that is probably why the 5microfarad side of the dual cap was not being used a capacitor can read good if the only thing checked is the microfarad reading but still be shorted internally.

Hello Curtis. I really enjoy listening to the birds. When you say Lovely, I know it's going to be bad news!
-
Wire coming into the contactor box had insulation cut up.
-
What about checking the inrush amps? It could have been a weak breaker that was tripping way too low.
-
Weak breaker ? May need hard start kit ?
-
Been there and done that, I've learned to manually push the contactor when I find an old system with traces of refrigerant leak to get an idea of the charge, that ussually gives up a bad compressor or capacitor too.
-
Maybe the breaker was shot blowing premature ..
-
Curtis great job troubleshooting very informative hope you get the repair or changeout thanks for the video
-
May have been the compressor connector that had a short in it. Might have been useful to check the connector for a short.
-
That did seem to trip way too quick to be lock rotor...normally the compressor would attempt to start. But running the fan without the compressor proved there was no dead short upstream of the contactor so that means it's failing under load leading to either the compressor or the breaker/panel. I've seen it where the bus bar was burned up and the there was arcing under a decent load causing a dead short.
-
LRA inrush was blowing that breaker I’d say age killed it
-
Very good work,Curtis! I learn alot from your videos.
-
So could it have been LRA? Aways enjoy watching your videos
-
Not all roosters attack lol. Some are very tame.
-
Well Curtis, i hope you score the newchange over job 👍 Au
-
Did you notice the insulation was all cracked up on the line voltage wires?
-
I would have replaced the 35 and tried a hard start. Seen some go for years after a pace maker.
