Box made of 10 mm thick birch plywood, just the bottom is made of 1/2" birch plywood. Transparent window made of 3 mm polycarbonate sheet.
Red energy chain parts are 3D printed. Energy chain for X axis is rolling on aluminum T profile 15x15x1 (bought in local hardware store). Intermal size of X axis energy chain is 10x10 mm, intermal size of Y axis energy chain is 15x15 mm.
Regarding X axis energy chaining, I had to prolong cables for laser and stepper for 250 mm, otherwise original cable lengths were too short for X axis energy chain incorporation.

I rebuilt your machine box this weekend and it worked great! thanks a lot for the plans, great job. because I do not have any windows in the room I use the laser, I cut a hole in the lid and placed an Ikea Förnuftig particle and carbon filter on top. I works great, no fumes and no bad smell! Thanks a lot again

Like everyone else I really like you enclosure and wiring. I do have a question? I noticed you wear safety glasses on top of your head ? Yes, I'm just picking on you, but I do have a good reason. I am blind in my left eye, not from an accident, but from cataract surgery. And now I take twice as good care of my other eye because I don't want to be totally blind. PLEASE, wear your safety glasses on your eyes, not on top of your head! Thank You!!! And thank you for sharing your time with all of us!
  • Nice work. I would put the smoke extractor at the back to give the cover a more less bulky look. The holes in the front would be a bit smaller in diameter given that they run full length at the front of the machine. Fir the lid (cover) i would look for a heavy rod to line inside the front wheee the holes run to give it weight alws to keep the lid tight and covered. Then i would probide provisions an all sides (four points) for braces where the box can be tightghtened to the work table to minimize any sgaking that can ocure during work. Generally, its a gooth and beautiful thing

Great job, thanks for sharing. It's helped confirm some ideas I had for mine plus helped me realise how to do the top. 😀
  • You really needed a cnc machine to build that, LOL. Of course, than you'd need an enclosure for that machine. This is a really nice idea! I'll keep this in mind just in case my wife let's me buy a Xtool or NEJE. :) Thanks for sharing.
