  • One single human soul in this interview. For the first time I saw a person sorry for the Ukrainians. Well done old man.

When I was a young child growing up in NH, I asked my mom why we never saw poor people. It warmed her heart that I did not realize that we were poor people!
  • in the US there are retired people living in cars, others right on the sidewalk. Depends on who is being compared to whom.
  • Poverty is relative. You are a lucky person if you can find contentment in what you have.
  • @notsaying543
They dont know they are poor because they have never experienced anything else

A few years ago, an old friend spent the night, and took a shower the next day. He came out and said, "How do you shower? There is barely any water coming out of the shower head?" I said, "I never noticed, guess I got used to weak water pressure". That same day he helped me replace some clogged pipes, and water was high pressure again. I learned a big lesson that day. You can easily become accustomed to your living environment and believe things are normal. These folks have accepted their condition as "normal". I commend them for enjoying their simple life and not asking for more, but I assure you, I will never go back to a weak pressure shower again 😁

If they are satisfied with their situation, nobody needs to "convert" them.

The poor in Russia have outdoor toilets, and the poor in America have sidewalk toilets..

“Bullshit! They haven’t travelled in two years because they have nothing to eat” that man is pure gold

I'm from Bulgaria. I spent the first 5-6 years of my life in a village with my grandparents. I felt happy there as a child. By all accounts, things were rough around here in the 90s, but I didn't feel it. My folks were not well-off by any means, but I never lacked for anything. This place in the video doesn't seem too far off. We had an outdoor toilet too and no bathroom. I'm not saying this in support of Russia or Putin or these people in the video, whoever they are. It just made me think. I get that they are kept in the dark and could lack modern comforts. But if you are convinced you are happy and satisfied and don't know any better, then I guess you are. Edit: I didn't expect this comment to get so many replies. I just had a random thought and decided to share it. I think what I originally wrote could be taken the wrong way, so I'd like to add a clarification.  I didn't mean to suggest that better living conditions wouldn't lead to more fulfilling lives and shouldn't be sought after. Nighter was I advocating for going back to an idyllic pastoral past or criticizing the decadence of western society (although capitalism is by no means without its flaws). These people absolutely deserve better as does anyone. I think ultimately what I meant is that ignorance is bliss. You may have a tough life, but if you have never known or even seen anything better and propaganda tells that all is well, then you may truly believe it. I think happiness is being content with your lot in life whatever that may be. Now, it may be that some of these people are truly content or it may be that they are deluding themselves. I can't know that. Regarding my own experience, my folks probably didn't have it easy at all and just did my best to shield me and it's perfectly natural that I'm a little nostalgic about my childhood.

As an Iranian I never thought about Russia as a peace nation. They are always looking for more land in any direction.
  • @happyuk06
They're probably sick of smug westerners looking down on them.
  • @mountainman8775
First time I‘ve seen a Russian express any sympathy for a Ukrainian. Thank you good sir, Vadim, your contribution is more important than you can know.
  • @asdf7245
"I make 550$ a month" "We have beautiful toilets" Impressive...
  • @Lak.c
What does "poor" mean in comparison to Americans or Europeans, please? I traveled across America and some of the poverty I saw in rural areas was no better, sometimes much worse than on some videos in Russia (I've never been there). The same applies to Europe, especially in the Eastern Bloc.
  • @goldmember3874
I really enjoyed the video because it shows a side of Russia that we will never be able to see. These are poor people living a hard life, and they have my respect regardless of their beliefs. Even in my country and in the USA, there are people living difficult lives, voting for politicians who promise a better future that will never be achieved. Moreover, even in the West, people are brainwashed with propaganda. Does anyone remember our wars to export democracy?
  • @sorkvild1473
5:50 Damn, that's rare! Old person not influenced by propaganda. Good for him. Hope he lives well and happy.
  • @johncheresna
It is easier to fool someone than it is to convince them they have been fooled. Mark Twain said that, I believe.
  • RIP Vadim. You should have blurred his face mate.... Still, the intelligence it would take to overcome that amount of propaganda. What a good man.
