such huge machines working non stop by themselves so precisely without failing. the operators are here only to keep an eye in case something goes wrong. we are speechless watching these wonders created by humans

The processing portion of the facility is cleaner than some food processing facilities ive worked in.

Some very innovative methods here. Good example of modernizing the process- less waste, therefore better use of rescources.
  • That first automated mill was amazing. Dual dado heads trim the bark edge from all four flat planes, then the machine cuts 4 - 1x2s and 4 - 1x4s away from the 6x6 post. Clever!
  • Excellent video on forestry and distribution of lumber industry. Machinery are just a remarkable ingenuity. Fascinating to watch! Thanks

Wish my Father, who worked most of life at sawmill, were alive to see the automation evolution in making lumber these days.

Combien a t-il fallut d' années à ces arbres pour un chantier de confection de ces roues à câbles ? Le "progrès" est trop souvent en inadéquation avec les besoins de la planète ! Merci pour ce reportage
  • One small, but vitality important omission from the shown processes... drying! I don't even want to think about the ensuing messes created by turning wet lumber out into the wilds of various construction. At the very least, as a furniture builder for the past 40 years, I'd cause grievous bodily harm to anyone who ran a board with more than 12% (you can expect a m.c. of as high as 25-30% straight off of a raw log, no matter how long it sits in the yard) moisture content through any of my machines, let alone all the havoc of things blowing into scrapwood once it does begin to dry.

Как будто на Земном шаре успевают вырастать деревья взамен тех, которых попилили с такой скорость. Вот она погибель человечества.
