  • I sure hope whoever paid you for the potatoes is paying you for the extra work. There are so many people in this world that are starving and they were just gonna let however many tons of potatoes go bad. You guys are awesome for trying to get these to them to be processed.
  • Once potatoes start to break down and the good ones get in contact with the fluid from the rotten ones, the good ones rot fast.

Hi from AUS. here. Man, I'm so sorry this happened to you. Well like I said to you last time, don't feel bad as this too happened to us on our last year of harvest. Unfortunately, you will need to increase the water flow as much as possible & also try not to recyle all the water as the plant complained until we used only fresh water as the smell will still be on the spuds. I wish you all the best thru this difficult time. Keep up the great work, as you will prevale.
  • You guys are blessed with army of dedicated help! So sorry to hear of the large loss of potatoes , next year!
  • Another ex UK potato grower here. I know that smell, won't ever forget it. We had stores occasionally start to self unload by a steady flow under the door. How ever do you manage to keep so calm ?

I'm happy that you were able to salvage some spuds. Be safe and God bless

Nice to see that you could save the harvest!!

Ex UK potato grower here: That wash plant is certainly getting you out of a hole but it does seem to be doing a lot of damage. Is it possible to see how it occurs and maybe put some rubber belting there or something? It also seems strange that the spray line over the first conveyor is in the centre. Ours always had 3 short rows across the belt which did a better job of even water application. Not the job you were expecting in hay time! Anyway, good luck and I hope the plant keeps taking them!
  • I enjoy watching your videos because I learn something new each time. It is amazing how you and your crew just keep on keeping on when faced with such adversity. Sorry to see such waste because the processors didn’t do their job. I can only imagine how infuriating it is to deal with this.
  • Yes the arm band are wonderful we used a head band that was very nice in the heat when i worked for a tree company .

I'm an old Army guy, in Australia. After catching up a bit, I now have an entertaining channel for spuds (and other crops) as well as my two corn farmers and a hog farmer. Who'd o' thought? Thanks a bunch. Stu

Every day can be a school day and we learn something new. That machine was really cool, once you got the feeds and speeds sorted out :)
  • Your title brought back memories. My dad use to grow potatoes and use the allis chalmers C with potato digger and the rest of us would pick a role and start putting potatoes in a bucket. The smell of a rotten potato is pretty foul lol. We would throw them at a person working another role lol. Good times.
