I’m so happy to hear someone else love Halloween as much as me, when ever I listen to it I want that riff to go on forever
  • I love mastodon to pieces. First got into them because of the hunter curl of the burl. Such a diverse band especially from beginning to now.
  • @Magnumscrotus
Im really glad you have your own take on these albums. So many people’s rankings of their albums are more or less the same. Its fine that crack the sky is still number 1. Its pretty hard to beat. Once more round the sun and emperor of sand are soo good.
  • @marcen12
I got into Mastodon because a video called "Metal Genres Described by Simpsons Clips". At one point, it described sludge metal and Blood and Thunder played while it showed a clip of Homer being submerged in a puddle of oil (or quicksand or sand), but it was a reverse clip of the elephant SAVING Homer. I was obsessed with that song that I played that song constantly. I wanted the album that it came from but couldn't find it in my local Sunrise. They only had Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye. I bought both of them, listened to them and loved them!!!

I'm happy to see someone else who loves Emperor of Sand and Once More Round the Sun! I remember not being thrilled with either of them initially, but they both grew on me tremendously over time.
  • Crack the Skye, Blood Mountain, Once More Round the Sun, Leviathan, Emperor of Sand, Remission, Hushed and Grim, and The Hunter.
  • @PbG-uz1gx
For me it’s: 1. Emperor of Sand 2. Blood Mountain 3. Crack the Sky 4. Hushed & Grim 5. Leviathan 6. Once More Round the Sun 7. The Hunter 8. Remission
  • Mastodon's my absolute favorite, super cool to find a channel like this!
  • @shawnmalley7400
Oh my friggin god I can't believe you put Blood Mountain and Leviathan so high on the list! Leviathan is the best album Mastodon ever did! I started listening to Mastodon as soon as Leviathan was released!
  • @hitze3647
Remission definitely ranks high for me, but CTS and Emperor are right up there with it. I love hearing different Mastodon rankings because of how extensive their sound is, really can't go wrong in any order. Keep up the great work! 🤟
  • Great vid as always! I totally agree about "Crack the Skye." Just wanted to let you know that elsewhere on YouTube, your channel has come up again and again for anyone interested in Coheed. You're quickly becoming the go to Coheed source! I'm excited about that, since you actually love the story, like me
  • @Aria-SP
Great video! I love all of their albums so much myself, but my favorite albums would definitely have to be The Hunter and Crack The Skye. Those albums helped me get through a really rough part of my life, especially the song All The Heavy Lifting. The lyrics "Just close your eyes and pretend that everything's fine" hit close to home for me. I wasn't really a metalhead at all when I first started listening to them, the only reason I found out about them was because they made a song that was on Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Probably the most random way I could have discovered them, but I'm glad I did. Also, Halloween is underrated for sure!

Good list, that’s about where I have mine too 👍. Hushed would be higher up for me, but I think you have to be in a certain mood or mindset to really really appreciate that one. I did just read an interview with Bill, and new music is on the horizon. He said it’ll be more of a heavy, quick hitting type album. 🤘🤘
  • By far the best review of these albums that I've seen on the internet! I think I like Hushed & Grim a LITTLE better than you do, otherwise, I agree with your order!
  • @Houston1979
Interesting ranking! Actually appreciate you starting with #1...Interesting 🤘🏼 I DO think HUSHED AND GRIM is a grower...listen to GIGANTIUM at the right time & on the right day & it'll become your new fav 🦣 Song Brann's voice is my 2nd Favorite in all of Metal (after Mikael Akerfeldt) Fuckin' BEAUTIFUL...& with a 70's color/vibe to it
  • @GrimAhren
Love the video! I was hoping you wouldo something like this. I'm so glad that you gave "hushed and grim" another shot and that it grew on you, I told you it wood! It's definitely gloomy and that's why I love it so much. Asking me to rank my favorite Mastodon albums is asking me the impossible. Practice guy is definitely number one on my list but the rest sort of fall into a second spot position for me. My to lowest ranking ones would be the same two on your list, not because I don't like them, but because just like you, I definitely love the more progressive Mastodon stuff. I still love those two albums, though! Disband just can't do any wrong for me. I'm glad you like "the creature lives" as much as you do because it's definitely one of my favorites. I'm not going to start naming all of my favorite songs because there's just too many of them, but I will tell you this; sleeping giant has been my ringtone for about 11 years now. It's the part that starts at 2:47 and ends around 30 seconds later. Glad to see that you've been well! Hope to talk to you soon.
  • @saml302
i only knew EoS was a concept album bc i looked into it when it was announced. i thought OMRtS was a step up from the Hunter, but i was beyond stoked for another concept album from the boys.
  • @hansithebard
cool series! it would be great if you could do the same type of video with other bands like ayreon, ne obliviscaris or opeth which i know you really like
  • @zitowski7391
Im new to this channel. Loved to see that Coheed mask back there 🔥🔥🔥
