Recruitment agencies smuggle young Nepalese men into the Ukraine war — they are supposed to fight for Putin's army. They are promised a good income and Russian citizenship.
But reality often looks different. Those who return complain about lack of payment and the terrible war routine. It's a life-threatening mission, many Nepalese are killed in the process. Yet, this doesn't deter some young Nepalese men, like 25-year-old Sonish, who is determined to go to Russia.
A report by Adil Bhat.

They weren't drafted or forced into Russia. They volunteered to be mercenaries...

You want me to feel bad for volunteer mercenaries? They weren't drafted or forced into Russia. They volunteered to be mercenaries...
-
Plot twist: you don't get the money either way.
-
Not a single one trained to be suitable for war, only to be a meat shield. They weren't soldiers, just underprivileged men who wanted to provide for their family.
-
Just becsuse they're Nepalese doesn't mean they're "Gurkhas".. one has to go through some very rigorous trials in order to pass & qualify for the Gurkha regiment..//

The Nepalese man who escaped the front lines, he should on every TV and radio station and offer to work with the police to get the word out NOT to go to Russia because you will go to the front lines before any Russians do.

I found it a little ironic, listening to the woman whine about her dead husband, who went to Ukraine to murder someone else’s husband. I have zero pity.

Hey DW, I think this is your second video on Nepalese joining the Russian Army. Can you also please show Nepalese fighting for Ukraine. Show us both sides?

How shitty is a life when one feel its ok to do some russian roulette but only 1 slot is empty

Cannon fodder. That's how the Russian government sees these volunteers. Cannon fodder. 😞
-
Imagine believing that Russia will respect agreement

Being from Nepal, it's truly sad to see how false promises seem more plausible than finding a job in Nepal itself. Nepal's extractive system and unstable government have crippled the economic growth and in turn promoted a mass exodus. I guess a revolution led by educated anti corrupt people is the only soultion.

They are mercenary and disobey the law. It's hard to have pity.

In this world being poor is a curse. You either die or do whatever it takes to make money. Hence the root is money, hence the sad reality is that we humans have put money over humanity. It's not just about Nepal it's about this whole world, it's about what we as humans have become. And as sad as it really is, the reality is that nobody cares. Nobody cares about you, or your life as long as they are good. It's a sad world to exist in.

So we feel sorry for mercenaries now ?
-
Aren't the Gurkhas fighting for the British Army, and the French Foreign legion both mercenaries .
-
He had to pay 6k to go to the frontline?! What a scam, and now the woman has to pay it...
-
What do youvexpect with war.... a party... !?!? Arevthese people so naive they don't know what is war 💥
-
The fact that im from nepal and the fact that people from the home of one of the best infantry (Gurkhas) are fighting for Russia due to poverty is giving me a bad feeling.

What will happen at the time POW exchange ? Will Russia choose these men over own men for prisoner exchange? I don't think
