Ultralight Backpacking Solo | Overnight at Dinosaur Valley

Published 2023-03-02
I had JUST enough time to squeeze in a quick overnight at Dinosaur Valley State Park. It just so happened that on this unseasonably warm and humid February day, a cold front was due to blow in. So it was a perfect circumstance to test out some new gear at a place I am very familiar with. I was able to get in 10 miles on day 1; including a night hike of the Denio Creek Trail.

I always enjoy your southern wilderness trips. The desert has a kind of beauty and mystic that not everyone can see.

Nice. Looks great out for February. Thanks for the sub. We're still going through wet weather here in California. Can't wait until it clears up. I dig the Tarptent designs.
  • Very nice, late in late out and why not - short hike out :). Nice new logo. Sweet park and getaway.

Great little getaway! I’ve got a 4 day one planned for next week with rain forecasted for 3 of those. It ought to be interesting.😄

Get Vid. I was down there Sunday and Monday to test out some new gear as well. 80+ during the day and mid 50's at night. Was too warm if anything! Get the Cedar Brake Outer Loop trail and that was fun.

Great content as always. You're right, Campsite #2, when the water is flowing, is the best. How'd you like the pack? Bonfus makes great stuff!
  • Nice video! Can’t believe how the creeks were flowing. We were there a year or so ago and there was no water. Inspired us to get back out there soon!
