this is the most authentic representation of Maori kai i've ever seen to do with a celebrity. Matty cuz, I was already a fan, but now i'm an even bigger fan. Thank you for showing our culture this much love and respect. My hat off to you budda

You know, if my NZ experience is anything like a normal one this dudes entire video could have been people he met on the plane ride over! Frigging awesome people! So kind and generous and trusting! I was invited to dinner by multiple families, held babies, was invited to join a great walk, my travel itinerary was developed by people passing around a map on the plane! Then we landed in Auckland and people called and made sure we were doing well as we traveled for the month in a campervan. Absolutely the best trip of my life! So many amazing beautiful people!

As a kiwi, them mussels are just on another level back at home. Them things are massive! Everywhere else in the world just serve tiny tiny baby mussels. 😂😂😂

I love seeing Matty travel somewhere like Aotearoa. Though butchering a lot of the language he gave it a shot and by the looks he enjoyed his time in kiwi. I hope he does a little more travelling around. Being from the north island and seeing places that I had tracked to with whanau and friends…. Made me miss home but smile massively. Much love matty keep it up bro

Nga Mihi Nui, Kia Ora, Oh hell yeah, love it when our beautiful country and my people are showcased, Whakawhetai Koe Matty. Makes me proud of my culture, we aren't much, but we do our best.

My mother and I used to work along side a few of the people who keep aunties garden in shape today. Its great to see people giving back to the land and such a good way to explain koha. Kia Ora!
  • Been watching you for years Matty so glad you came to New Zealand to check out our traditional food and people mad respect ❤️

I think the Maori have a legitimate reason to be proud. Effectively shown the earliest examples of trench warfare tactics in a gunpowder era, and pretty much the only major people to force the British Empire to a military truce due to their ferociousness and fierce military resistance.

Amazing episode Matty. I have a close Maori mate and he and his family are some of the best people I have ever met. This episode really captured the beautiful culture and people with so much respect and authenticity. Awesome job to Matty and the whole team.
  • 4:09 that garden is strikingly beautiful. Good on you, Matt and crew, for highlighting a damn interesting people and place.
  • Working in a hotel you meet people from around the world but Kiwi's are without a doubt some of the coolest people around. They always have a crazy story to tell and they usually tip well. I hope I get to visit Rotorua one day.
