Police academy: Pepper spray

Recruits from Class 689 are doused in the face with pepper spray. Aside from the painful effects, they have to recite specific legal language regarding the proper use of force and demonstrate their ability to defend themselves while disorientated.

I really don't like the fact that they have to open their eyes and get peppered spray in their eyes several times this is totally unnecessary

way, way too much spray!!! this is insane i was sprayed in the academy and never had to do half the stuff those guys done. Crappy instructors-This would not even be defined as a reasonable situation.

I was just peppersprayed less than an hour ago for the academy. The shit these guys are doing is NUTS.

Speaking as an OC instructor, I will say that this was a bit unprofessional. They should NEVER allow recruits to spray each other with active OC.

The amount of spray directly into their open eyes is extremely unreasonable. I’ve been sprayed and having multiple people do it at once is just overkill

The point of this is A) When you spray someone up-wind it's going to hit them and you, and it will suck. B) Spray is legal and cheap in 90% of states so you are going to come across it. C) It hurts you and them so think before you spray and remember what it feels like.

I just got OC sprayed today for Air Force Security Forces. Worst day ever. This shit doesn't stop burning, oh you thought you were going to shower tonight? Lol more like start screaming when it keeps reactivating.

My opinion: Cops don't get paid as much as they should, going through all this, means alot more benefits just saying. There job is very hard and demands/ and deserves more respect and honor, so i bless you fellow Police officers. Awesome work!!

Everyone who is calling these guys assholes or has painted all cops with a negative color hear me out. I don't trust cops either but that doesn't mean we should just sit down and complain. We need you guys to become cops because you have empathy for the victims. Those who get off work on power are the large percentage of people who join the academy. If you're kind and empathetic then you can become that good cop you've never seen before.
