If you've ever searched for how to pick the best sunglasses for your face, you've probably seen the same old advice over and over about face shapes. The thing is, nobody actually has a heart shaped face or a diamond shaped face or a pear shaped face.

Most people find the "face shape" method for choosing sunglasses very confusing, and not very helpful. So I came up with an alternative (and better) way to figure out what kind of sunglasses will look best on your face.

Don't worry, it has nothing to do with face shapes! All of the sunglasses you see in this video are from Warby Parker (link below). I love using their free home try-on program to test out different types of sunglasses without going to the store.

Longtime optician here, and wizard at choosing frames for people... I clicked this video because I thought it was going to be silly, but everything you said is absolutely correct! SPOT ON. Well done, sir. :)
  • Finally!! I have to say, this is by far, the best video and explanation on buying the best glasses for your face, EVER! Being a woman, the shape of your face is important, not only in choosing glasses, but jewelry and the most importantly makeup. I'm 34, and I'm still not sure what shape my face is. Thank you so much!
  • I work as an optician and I canā€™t tell you how many times people say they have a ā€œtriangular faceā€ and Iā€™m thinking ā€œyou have a face faceā€!! It isnā€™t going to matter if you pick that frame with rounded edges to balance out your angles if it doesnā€™t fit! šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»
  • If you donā€™t like your nose, get glasses with a delicate bridge. I know this sounds weird because youā€™d think a thick bridge would hide your nose but it actually puts a lot emphasis on the tip of it. Having a bridge thatā€™s metal and barely visible puts a lot of emphasis on the eyes and makes the nose less prominent. I started to like mine with glasses like that because it gives me a little bit of an edge and just looks cool.

Easily the best video on sunglasses I've ever seen. Fantastic. Also, my face is stupid. :D
  • You're a genius. Totally agree with you that generalisations on "face shape" just don't cut it.

This man was way ahead of his time, I'm in 2023 and this video is still relevant af, thanks for the info, the "face shape" theory is a problem even in 2023 but I'm glad I found your video.

This dude is absolutely right! He is on point. Once I figured out that the width of my face was what was keeping my from buying the RIGHT pair of sunglasses, I never buy the WRONG pair anymore. My sweet spot is 53 to 55 mm width, depending on the style of frames. This guy is money!šŸ‘

Wow I picked all the wrong ones šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Best Sunglasses tutorial out there imo Very easy to understand and not solely relying on overly complicated face shapes to confuse everyone! Great job Brock!

I got Lasik several years ago and still struggled picking out sunglasses. This guide is exactly what I need. Nice job

Hey! I am SOOO HAPPY I found your channel! When it comes to picking out sunglasses (and now glasses for reading/driving), I have always had the HARDEST time! I Lā™„ļøVE the formula you shared with us. I am measuring my face in the morning because I need to head back to my Ophthalmologist THIS WEEK to get a new pair of glasses and also prescription sunglasses. Nothing ever seems to look right on me! I have had a round face with ā€œchubby cheeksā€, since I was a baby... Iā€™m now 42 years old and the chubby cheeks has, by the grace of God, kept me looking around 28-30 years old! I have ALWAYS worn sunglasses so that may have helped me avoid crows feet along with a high SPF facial moisturizer I have worn since I was about 20 years old! Anyway, I always thought I had to get bigger sunglasses to play down my round face but I have been NEVER SATISFIED with what I buy... even the $450 polarized, prescription sunglasses I wear right now! Iā€™m going to follow your advice and if it really works, I PROMISE I will not only subscribe to your channel but I will forward this to all 400+ of my friends, family and contacts!! Thanks again for making this video! Love from Texasā™„ļøšŸ¤
  • @davchylp
probably the only useful video about picking a pair of perfect sunglasses I've seen so far...thanks! :D
  • Crazy how we can take something like this, something so simple, for granted... and yet there exist some much reason in how it actually should work. I would always just wing such a shopping experience.

Thank you for posting this video! I have been having a hard time determining my face shape because I don't seem to fall into any of the predetermined categories. Finally there is a video on the subject that makes sense!
