WHY WE'RE NO LONGER USING MY FATHER'S WORLD KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
This is just a quick update as to why we're no longer using the My Father's World homeschool curriculum. We LOVE this curriculum, however, we are needing to take a break from the "schedules" and do more free child led learning. We may visit My Father's World in the coming years, but for now, we're embracing more of the unschooling style, and are LOVING it! Have you used this My Father's World curriculum before? What has your experience been?

Thank you so much for watching this video! I would absolutely love it if you joined our family by subscribing down below!

  • If you watched to the end, you know why I take so long to make a video. 😂❤🥰

Yes girl! Thanks for sharing this video! This definitely resonates with me, it began to be a really big struggle to get my son to get excited to “do school” and it just wasn’t working. I love how you are leaning more into a child led approach! Thanks for sharing Dana!
  • We prefer horizons curriculum over MFW for pre k, kindergarten and first grade. Horizon Worksheets helped me to stay on a “path”/topic but definitely unschooled many ways around each topic on our own. MFW is hands down great for second grade and the 2nd through 8th family cycle, especially if you have multiple children to teach. I didn’t find MFW for under 2nd grade to be very good in its presentation or use.
  • The monotony of the worksheets was the main reason we dropped MFW years ago. I wanted it to work, but it just wasn't a good fit for us.

That’s the beauty of homeschool you can just change as you go depending on what works for your family at that time. Have you looked into Five in a Row? It’s a very gentle, fun, and affordable literature based program. I wouldn’t even really call it a curriculum. It is based around classic children’s literature and has a guidebook w/ fun correlating activities and wonderful for young kids where you don’t necessarily need such a structured curriculum.
