One day a man walked into the Rocket Dog Rescue in San Francisco to look for a dog to adopt. He quickly fell in love with a three-year-old pit bull named Merrill. When it was time to pick her up, the shelter ran into a bit of a problem. Merrill wouldn't leave her best friend behind.

The volunteers at Rocket Dog Rescue dedicate their time to save unwanted and abused dogs from overcrowded shelters. Their mission is to stop dogs from getting euthanized. They regularly rescue dogs that don't have the best luck getting adopted. In 2014, the rescue took in a sick pit bull and an older Chihuahua. The two pups wouldn't leave each other's side.

Merrill and her eight-year-old Chihuahua friend Taco were brought to Rocket Dog Rescue together. The volunteers knew nothing about the dog's owner, but they did know that the two dogs were best friends. They were together all the time, and if they ever got separated, they would cry. Soon enough, the shelter truly understood how deep their bond went.

The real hero is the man who didn’t leave Taco all alone and wasn’t selfish. He knew his limits in not being able to take them both. Props to you good sir.

Aren’t us humans so lucky and blessed to have the love and loyalty of a dog?

Loneliness must feel terrible for shelter animals, so this young pit bull and old chihuahua coming to love and depend upon each other, was nothing short of lifesaving! What a blessing that their adoptive family knew that their bond must be nurtured.

I have two inseparable dogs. It's such a pleasure to see their love for each other and I wrote a will with only one thing in it: If something happens to me and my wife, just keep the dogs together no matter what! This story resonates to me a lot.
  • An abused dog will love you until the end. Be kind to animals They’re kind to us. ❤️

And some people say animals don't have emotions like humans 🙄 This is such a beautiful relationship.

The fact that they advertised them separately was wrong. There's always got be someone willing to take tow dogs, especially with a strong bond as these two.
  • It’s horrible that people treat dogs like they’re clueless animals. They show more love and compassion than a lot of people do. The man who adopted these cuties is definitely a hero. Their bond is just precious.

What is truly wonderful is the man who wanted Meryl, but decided not to take her away from her best friend, and the shelter for making sure they stayed together. Beautiful.
