Today marks five years since 13 year old youtube star, Caleb Logan LeBlanc passed away, he died from an undetected heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young people. The heart muscle thickens making it difficult for blood to get round the body. It ran on Katie's side of the family, and the kids had been checked for it. There was sadly nothing that they could've done differently.
Caleb's life was vlogged almost daily from the ages of 8 to 13, posting home videos and family memories up to Youtube on the channel Bratayley. His final vlog (Dear Future Self, WK 248) filmed just one day before his death shows Caleb answering the "question of the day" a traditional end to each vlog - the question was "if you could ask your future self, one question what would it be?" Caleb says he'd ask if Taco Bell was still around, or if there were any new sports.
Caleb's laughter was infectious, and no matter where he was, Caleb would always put on a performance to make people laugh. He celebrated every day of his life the best he could, setting an example for what is now Bratayley's slogan, notably matching Caleb's initials, CL.
He loved minecraft and would occasionally play with fans. He adored sports and was part of a baseball team. He loved his dogs, Piper and Winnie, joking that that she was "the only girl I've ever kissed!" He was in his familys words "The Best Brother Ever"
5 years on, and he continues to be missed so much; by his family, friends, fans, team mates and coaches. Caleb truly made an impact on this world, he could make anyone smile.
Caleb would be 18 years old now. He lived for 4828 days.
