Coming into the third part of our Ultimate Metal Gear Retrospective, Kojima decides to take us back in time. Giving us the origin story of Big Boss, some further clarity on the patriots, while introducing a whole cast of characters which elevate the experience into something equally as unique and distinct as the previous games.

    My grandpa was a sailor in training during the Cuban Missile crisis and during that time his ship made many trips to Cuba. On one of these trips his ship was stopped by a US sub and was intercept by a P5M marlin from the Navy so technically he is cannon in mgs3

    Fun facts: if you kill all the engineers the shagohod will start with less health. Also that ghost with the vulture during the sorrow fight spawned in because you ate a vulture that feasted on a dead guard. The ghost will say "you ate me" & you get a codec call about it too

    Snake getting his 1911 is a beautiful cutscene. Dropping the cigar and totally forgetting about the gorgeous woman in the room. He doesnt care about his stimulant and tits don't matter now that he's got a cool gun. It just shows how Big Boss is just a dork at heart.

    Have you never used the engineer disguise during the C3 section? I always thought that part was a breeze because of the disguise lol

    On cqc: you couldn't do the knockout throw in the older games. You could do a judo flip, but that was more about disorienting the enemy, and didn't necessarily knock them out.
