Check out Boz's jazzy 90's remake of "Lowdown" here    • Boz Scaggs ~ " Lowdown " ( Unplugged ...

I never heard anything from Boz until he released his now classic "Silk Degrees" in 1976, although he had been recording since 1966. "Lowdown" was an instant favorite, the culmination of sounds used in the production like the fuzz guitars and the vibraphones gave it a bittersweet feel firmly entrenched in r&b."Lowdown" was nearly a top ten Disco hit peaking at #12. a few months ahead of the its chart peak on the Hot 100. He went on to have more hits with the same r&b flavor in songs like "Miss Sun" and "Jojo" among many others. His star faded after 1980, and he did not release another album until 1988 "Other Roads" produced by Stewart Levine which gently directed him back to the r&b sound he was so successful with but did not produce any hits. I got to working on this one and found it was easy to extend...hope you enjoy it!

Let's see how many legends are still listening to this great song in 2021.
  • It makes one misty eyed to know how much the world has changed, we lost something, a simplicity, a coolness, a kind of awkward playful swagger that everyone could relate to...

Jeff Porcaro on drums. man he was everywhere back then. on every hit! it seems. too bad he died young.
  • I know that a lot of people says that, “this was music” and that “what we have now doesn’t even come close” and so much more… tell me something, how can you possibly disagree with those people?? This was, is and it will be the best ever!!!! 🙌🏼

No song is perfect but damn this one is very close. Everything hits just immaculately. These folks were blessed from the heavens the day this was recorded.
  • You better believe I will always be groovin’, funkin’, listening to soul and R&B music until they put me 6 feet under. I’ve listened to all of these great songs since I was in elementary school and I will be 60 years young come July 5th and still jammin to all of these badass tunes. My music collection “Lord have mercy it’s a music LIBRARY with 8-Track tapes, audio cassettes, BOO COO CD’s with Bluetooth as well and now just downloading jams these days. Quarantine or not as long as my heart beats The musical beat continues in my life and always will.

This song reminds me of Lisa in the mid 70's, a girl I met in Long Beach but did not pan out after a short while. I hope she is OK and still alive. She really liked me. She adored this song; then, I began to like it back then that I bought the LP.
