I have the same rack and Tuareg. Bought the rack originally for my KTM 690. I ended up with the same strap configuration and feel comfortable with how it rides. Best!

Nicely done. I’m in Texas, too. About to install my MCC-600 on my F350 to load my KLR 650 2022. Your video was super helpful. Thank you so much.

Thank you for your time on the video! Thinking through my own design to transport a Rokon!

I’ve done a truck bed (first Gen Tundra 4x4, truck bed pretty high), a trailer (kendon and generic) and a trailer hitch on a Land Cruiser. Trailer by far the easiest to load and unload. Oh, with bikes about 340lbs. Didn’t love the trailer hitch rack at all. Made me super nervous. My little clamp also didn’t fit for different reasons. I put some JB weld on the junction before I headed off. Good for 1 run then it sort of crumbled. But it worked. I recently sold my kendon trailer. Will replace it when one pops up on FB marketplace. (Mine had no title and I didn’t want to hassle with Tarrant county to get it registered. The VIN was unreadable). Small urban house with no outside room for a trailer and the kendon fits in a normal garage. I wish you well, but long-term, I don’t think it’s a good deal for a heavy bike. Use a trailer, or by an El Camino 😂.
  • Thanks. Very informative video. I just ordered the Black Widow AMC-600-2-PRO 2-bike hitch carrier. I’m going to attempt to put a KLX300 AND a TW200 on the back of my 2021 Ford Ranger. Please say a prayer for me tonight. 🙏

I have the same carrier but I got mine from harbor freight (it is the exact same carrier). I use it to haul a 280lb dual sport. My personal config uses 6 ratchet straps. 4 to hold the bike to the carrier and then two that attach the bike to the bed tie downs like what you ended up doing. Before I just used the 4 straps it rocked a ton but after adding the straps that hook to the bed tie downs it was wayyyyyy more stable and I've taken it on the highway going 80, on bumpy Montana dirt logging roads in the mountains and it's been awesome. The extra anchoring to the truck makes a world of difference because it makes 3 points of contact vs 1

I have been carrying my 2008 KLR650 in that rack for about 15 years now behind my motorhomes. It's definitely a 2 person job loading, and unloading my bike.

Hydraulic Bike Carrier might be easier!......little more pricey, but No ramps.....it slides under the belly of the Bike, and lifts Straight up, basically a Scissor-Lift/Bottle Jack lift......I think many of them have 1000lbs+ weight limits too. Might be worth looking into. I recently got a aluminum Ramp for my Dual Sport, and it's nice, but they ARE kind of sketchy even though I got a quality ramp, I definitely wish I went steel or just got the hydraulic Lift instead.

Thanks for all the info! Just placed order and plan to haul my bike cross country
  • @drumcrazy564
Appreciate the video! I have the same bike and ordered the same ramp so thanks for making it easy for me :)
  • I have that same carrier, but I hooked a small winch to it and it has made it so easy to load and unload.

Have used a lighter duty version similar to your model with my KX250 when I don't want to trailer up. In fact, I put a front hitch on my Excursion and hauled it that way when towing a camp trailer to the dunes for a boy's weekend away. Now I have an F150 and take my sport bike with me on extended work trips. Pain in the butt to load in the back of the truck since the bike has little clearance. Sport tires are too wide for my KX hauler, so I may need to pick up one of these Black Widow haulers and try it out.

Man I thought this would be a breeze but it’s a fair amount of work. I have a same project later this week

Excellent review. I decided on the MotoTote carrier before I heard of this carrier. Many ways to skin a cat 👌

The bike carrier needs built-in tail lights you cannot see tail lights on vehicle

Good video, definitely should be in gear and not neutral. Good job

Great video! I hope the hitch carrier is still working for you. I’m very interested in it now. 👍
