Marla, please take us along whenever you play with your treasures. I love listening to you talk while you arrange things. You are such a wonderful philosopher and teacher about life. When you said it was ok to take comfort in our things because they were witnesses in the background of our lives, I got a little teary eyed. I love old books and have many, some that I had as a young girl and teenager and believe me, those are now vintage! 😂 We went to my grandsons to watch the eclipse yesterday because he was in totality. So much fun. We ate Moon Pies and drank Sundrop! Their living room has a whole wall of bookcases. Most of his were anime or science fiction and hers were historical romance, but I noticed the entire bottom shelf was of very old classic books. When I was looking at them, he said, " I found them at a yard sale and they gave me a good price if I took them all. I just liked the way they looked". Well, this thrifting NeNe's heart just swelled with joy. I think I might have passed on a love of old things and that makes me happy. I love that crazed finish on your bookcase and it looks wonderful full of books and all styled up. What a sweet reading nook! At our house, we will often pause a show or movie just to see what books are on a shelf in a scene. I love your old bibles. I also write in mine. One of my treasures is my mom's bible. She wrote in hers and it is a blessing to read her thoughts and notes while reading scripture. I miss her so much. You are a blessing. God bless you!

Hi Friend! I was excited to see you had this video on Old Books! I am an avid Reader, but I Love Vintage / Antique Books. My Mama was also an avid Reader. She passed a couple years ago and I got all her Books she had thru the years! I have bought old books at Thriftstores, but most of my Treasures I have come from her! ❤ And yes, I also write notes in my Bible. Speaking of notes in Bibles and Mama, I was Blessed to get Mama’s Bible that was full of her notes and it’s very worn from my Sweet Sunday School Teacher Mama! ❤

What a transformation you did in that corner. I LOVE it specially how you style the top of the bookshelf with the tattered Bible with your grandma’s Bible wrapped with the lace ribbons,the eyeglasses and the mason jar lamp. It is absolutely beautiful !!! It the perfect place to take a break. To sit down to read a book or perhaps crochet a little blanket or do some cross stitching. It’s just so warm and inviting who would want to spend sometime there. I wish I could share pictures of my book collection. Mine are inherited from my great aunts, grandfather and my father. I have family Bibles and my grandmother's old round bifocals propped up on my aunt's old journal. I have five book cases full of the books and precious photos of family members that have passed with other treasures.

Dear sweet Marla, I've never commented before but when I saw the title of one of my favorite authors on your shelf, I just squealed inside! I have a special display of books by Elswyth Thane on my shelf and most of them have beautiful but somewhat tattered dust covers on them. They are old friends to me. It's a series of historical fiction that follows a family through many generations. You've got the one titled "The Light Heart," (which fits you perfectly!) I highly encourage you to read it! Thank you for sharing your heart and home and treasures with us. ❤️

Marla I just love your videos. The way you decorate and all the stories you tell about your family. You have made me look at books in a different way when I go into thrift stores. I also picked up an old Bible recently and you could tell that it was well used. They had written in their Bible notes that were important to them and underlined verses that were important to them. You are so right all I could think about was how they were studying God’s Word! Thank you for all that you do. God bless you and your family.

I just joined. You are my kinder spirit two wk ago i brought a book self. Because i had books lineup on the floor. I to got me a stool and sat and filled my book self. And then you put glasses on the books i do the same thing uncle and aunt passed and i use there glasses. And you have a soothing voice and spiking of the word. Thank you and Bless you!!!!!!
