With any profession, there are ups and downs. After teaching special education for four years, I have learned so much about the ups and downs of being a teacher in special education. Special education has a bunch of negative connotations, and in today's video I discuss the pros and cons of the profession. I hope you enjoy this! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for future videos, please feel free to leave them down below!

I am a Special Education Teacher! I adore Special Education and do not want to leave the field. It is my passion in life! :)
  • Yay!!! Finally a SPED teacher to watch!! Are you going to be vlogging?? I'm so excited as I am about to complete my degree in ESE(SPED in Florida). I love watching the other YouTube teachers but it's so nice to finally see someone I can fully relate to!! You have a new subscriber 😊😊

I know you made this video a year ago but I just found your videos recently and I’m so excited to find a special ed vlogger to relate to! I’m so sorry about a lot of the negative comments in this video. It sounds to me like they are people who have had negative experiences in special education and are unfairly taking it out on you and other special educators. You seem like an amazing teacher and I’m sure your students love you! Keep doing what you’re doing and ignore the hate :)

I love seeing a video about SPED! I hope you can make more covering your experiences and opinions etc! I would also love to see a video talking about why you chose special education if you ever have the time! Keep up the good work!

I know this is an old video but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing. I'm about to begin my junior year of college (hopefully) as a SPED major. For the past 2 years I've worked at an organization that serves both children and adults who have developmental disabilities and absolutely love it. That's what sparked my passion and desire to be in a career that serves people who have disabilities. I also really loved my field experience in a special ed classroom last year. But I'm experiencing so many doubts about this choice as well, hearing all the horror stories and many negative aspects that overwhelm teachers who go into the field. It's very daunting to think about and I don't know if I have what it takes. I appreciate the advice and encouragement you offer! I know I want to be in this field in some form or another!
  • You are adorable and those students are lucky to have you as their teacher. I'm currently getting my special education credential and it's so nice to hear positive aspects about the field.

Hi, I loved your video! I just started working for specail ed. And I can honestly say I love it. A lot of my bosses lol have told me to become a teacher. So your video was helpful I'm really considering becoming a teacher but we will see.

I am in my final semester of Special Ed. So good to find a fellow special Ed I hope to learn a lot from you.

Working on my masters now for Special Ed. I can't wait!

I'm applying for an SEN post even though my experience in this field is limited and this was so helpful! Thank you! You've definitely got me sold. Always found the class size the most frustrating part of teaching, as building relationships and supporting individuals is what I care about the most. Would love the opportunity to really invest, as you say!

I’ve been trying to decide on what I want to study in grad school. I think this just sold me! 😧👏🏽🤗
  • Currently I am a substitute teacher for high school special ed class. I am looking forward in getting my teaching credentials soon. Thank you for this informative video, you where very straightforward.

Teaching those students is the best in the world God bless us all, Gustavo Ceja.
  • So glad you did this video. I love teaching special. The legal aspect is tough to navigate. From talking to other SPED teacher it is the reason they quit.
  • Totally agree! The lawyer/advocate/witness prep aspect of constantly needing to document is my highest level of stress and has made me rethink being in Sped every so often. But, for now the 1:2 teaching ratio is my personal teaching philosophy that all students (gen edu included) learn differently and need differentiated materials to grasp various academic concepts. Love your content and can we address the hair 💖... gorgeous. Keep doing you!
