    šŸ”„ThesešŸ”„ are Not Naturally Occurring!
  • Iā€™m working as a hot shot in the fire and since watch duty wonā€™t update, I will. 17,000 acres and 5% contained

Just got back from driving through the Grapevine/Gorman. I can see the fire was carried by strong winds up there. So strong, my car would jolt if I went over 80mph while driving the 5 up there. The fires are still going and itā€™s Smokey in a secured area that you can see behind some hills. There are also small spots of fire that you can see from the Highway but both lanes on the 5 are open. Itā€™s not near LA. In LA County, but not near LA.

the money being spent to contain this wildfire should be used instead in preventing wildfire.

We had a bunch of rain in southern CA this winter. Plants grew like crazy and are now tinder dry. Expect plenty of fires this summer.
  • I hear the sounds of insurance companies droping customer's in the background.

Show map please! šŸ˜®North of LA is sooooo vague.
  • Not fire season. So are these fires natural or the beginning of another manufactured fire storm season?

Not sure why people are bagging on the Captain in the comments. She obviously knows her stuff. Itā€™s windy, dry, hot and this is very early for us to have a fire. The area is open chaparral that goes up fast. THEN moves toward populated areas. All thanks to Cal Fire and all firefighters for their steadfast dedication!

Having a fire this big, this early in the "fire season" means there is no fuel here for future fires in this area, this year. So, it is a good thing. God bless the first responders to these fires. Be safe

Happens every year in California. The real news would be when it doesn't happen every year.

Never TRUST anyone that turns off COMMENTS.
  • I get the feeling this woman is a DEI.... I am no fireman but i know those hoses weigh around 100 pounds empty and up to 900 pounds full. I can't imagine her ever helping with that even when she was young.
  • We got space stations in orbit. But we can't put out a wildfire...
