So the end makes it way more likely that Kuma knew Luffy was Nika during that flashback. Brings a lot more meaning to Thriller Bark and Sabaody.

I think this is where weekly releases really hurt the impact of the chapter, which is unfortunately just a part of the package in this medium. If it's in volume form, the peek of Luffy in the last chapter isn't a "cliffhanger," it's just a cool little cameo leading in to reading the next chapter 2 seconds later. You don't have a full week of speculation building up and influencing your expectations, so when it ends up just being a simple scene the letdown is not nearly as significant. Personally when I read the end of 1100 I didn't make much of it because the Luffy panel was immediately following a montage of lots of different characters, so I was surprised to see people fluffing it up to such a huge extent with series-changing implications. It's as if One Piece's greatest enemy is sometimes the hype that it generates. You also don't get "bad pacing" and "fatigue" because you can just keep chugging along. Thoughts always appreciated though, Roger. Being critical is also important!

I think people are misunderstanding the beginning of this chapter. People are focusing too much on Kuma understanding Luffy being Nika. I think it's showing that deep down Kuma knew Luffy was Dragon's son, explaining why he was willing to help him and the Strawhat's on Thriller Bark and Sabaody. Maybe it's both but I think it's more important establishing that he knew there was that connection between Dragon and Luffy and so when he ran into Luffy later on he had a reason to disobey orders.

It could be that Bonnie was crying down in her knees while reading Kuma mind because she realized about her "lovely dad" writing letters for her before the events of Marineford 🤔😱😭🌊💖🖤

The text boxes at the end seem to imply that we are very close to the end of this flashback. We have been saying this for weeks, but the next one might actually be the last one

I think people are thinking too much into Bonney's powers. I think its more of her imagination of what she thinks nika's powers are. So to me she aged herself to a future where she can morph her body to what she thinks nika can do. So in my mind because she is a child, it just shows she has as much imagination as luffy

I just like that this chapter confirms that Dragon actually gives a shit about his kid. Also, the flashback is def gonna keep going. We have to go up until Kuma's memories get removed.

Alpha was a disney stepmother level of evil. Doesn't hit as hard as some of the horrible things that happened before that in the flashback😂

I like that you are not afraid to voice your dislikes. We can all love One Piece and think it's the greatest manga ever, but we can still voice our disappointments or issues with it.

It's definitely near/already the end of flashback so it's no wonder so much quickly packed to bring us to the current timeline. Even if the stuff with Luffy feels like a let down because of all the theory, I think it's just enough to show that Kuma know Luffy before Thriller Bark and all the setup for the possible future.

I actually liked the chapter. Also I watch sawyer saying that a Reddit user mentioned the paw paw fruit, Bonny devil fruit & luffy fruit but since then that post was deleted.

You know, I just realized towards the beginning of the chapter with your reaction, that I think Kuma was actually there to kill Luffy, and that’s the reason he went back to see Luffy, despite what Dragon said. Why would Kuma’s presence feel “creepy” to Luffy? I know the transponder snail went off near the same time, but Luffy has an unmatched ability to sense a person’s feelings, and I’m wondering if the government did order Kuma to investigate where the “Gum Gum fruit” disappeared to, and to eliminate the user if it was eaten. And I believe Kuma had a change of heart last minute after hearing Luffy want to be a pirate, and to be strong enough to protect his friends. But I guess it could be something more simple such as since Kuma was basically a distant peeping tom, that that was the reason Luffy felt the “creepy” presence.

I have total faith that Oda-sensei will give Urouge the spotlight he deserves next arc. Elbaf just seems like the perfect place for him to finally meet the Straw Hats.
