Honestly the fact that his name is Alexander and he goes by Alec instead of Alex is enough to put him in jail

The sheer number of adults around this kid who cosigned his behavior is bananas to me. They should be every bit as accountable as he is, there's no excuse for that.

Girl this was a LOT. If this is what the public knows I can only imagine how much is being hidden in private. This case sounded like a chaotic lifetime movie.

I feel so horrible for Mallory and her family. At the very least that should have been an open and shut case. This is a perfect example how ruining your children by letting them do whatever they want affects EVERYONE they encounter.

I can't understand how "I was with my elderly mother, who has dementia and cannot confirm nor deny my allegations" is considered a rock-solid alibi.

This case is deadass buckwild. The generations of corruption, abuse, trauma, and pain in just one county blows my mind. I just hope the whole truth comes out and that the people that have been hurt by this family will get justice and peace.

UPDATE: Alec was found guilty for all accounts relating to the deaths of his wife and son. He was sentenced to life in prison

The whole thing revolving around Alex is so weird to me, wouldn’t be surprised if after a few more years of investigation each event ends up leading back to him. I can already see it now…Netflix presents: Murdaugh He Wrote. Edit as of Alex’s arrest: Wow…shoulda copyrighted that title.

I'm a SC native and this happens all the time! A Clemson student Tucker Hipps "fell" off of a bridge during hazing for a well known frat. His death was covered up by prominent families of frat members so the "frat didn't get a bad name" it makes me sick.

NO FREAKING WAY!! I didn’t know if you would ever cover this case. The murders of his son and wife happened not even 5 minutes from my house. Hardly anyone had ever even heard of Islandton, SC until this happened. It’s such a small town in the middle of nowhere. The boating accident victim was my cousin. Our grandmothers are sisters. ❤️ I just want to edit this comment to add that Mallory, her sister, my brother, and I grew up playing together but at the time of her death we weren’t close. I hadn’t seen her in quite some time when she passed.

This is why having lines of families be in charge of things should be illegal. Or it should be illegal for someone to be judged in a court where their family has power.. the fact that the whole town knew he wouldn’t get in trouble is awful and shouldn’t happen.

I know that no amount of money can replace a deceased family member, but I'm SO glad that the housekeeper's children got their money. At least part of this story has a fair ending.

I'm furious at the fact that Paul was such an aggressive and uncontrollable drunk that they felt like they had to give him a different name while intoxicated. They knew he was an unsafe person before this, and a tragedy happened because the people who should have held him accountable were complicit. For whatever it's worth to Mallory- rest in peace, sweet love. You deserved so much more time.

the privilege this family had is INFURIATING. i just hope the victims of this family gets justice they deserve.
