Just realizing how the story of the lonely goatherd mirrors the movie’s plot. The lonely goatherd (a lonely man - Captain Von Trapp) with his goat herd (his children) build a new family with a girl (Maria) who responded to his song (request for a new governess), with the girl’s mother (Reverend Mother) encouraging the girl to follow her heart

I read how the kids and Julie actually spent 3 months learning how to do this scene; marionette puppets, singing & everything❣️

This scene is the kind that could so easily have been cut from the final movie. I'm glad they left it in. It's pure charm.

Imagine the cringy CGI that would be used today to recreate this scene. You can't top the original. What a classic.

I love how the girl's mom immediately approves of her loving the goatherd.

1:28 is my fav part because of how Julie laughs at herself because she sings the first line so goofy. It’s adorable and I replay it too much.

Julie Andrews will always be a legend. She's incredibly talented.
