This is the most thorough and most helpful review of Transitions lenses that I have ever come across. I decided to get the Xtractive after watching this, and it is exactly like you say. Needless to say, I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks so much for this video!

Great review. With my eye insurance plan, my frames and lenses came up to $280 because my bad astigmatism. I like my Transitions lenses so far. I just wonder how they are going to be doing the summer. Without my insurance my glasses would cost about almost $800.

I just ordered Xtractive transitions for 2 reasons. 1. For driving...these do activate behind the windshield of a car. 2. They help block busy indoor light from computers and overhead, bright, flickering lights that tend to fatigue eyes and cause headaches. The optician only added a Anti-reflective coating and nothing else. I worry about scratching and getting used to the indoor tint. I will be getting them in a week or so and hope for the best. I appreciate your information here..it was quite helpful.
  • Thank you so much for your help! I am trying to decide between the regular transitions and the extra transitions. I will be spending 6 weeks in Florida this winter, but live in Wisconsin the rest of the year, so your review was a great help because it was so thorough. Thanks again.

Thanks to this review, I decided to go with these lenses. I couldn't be more satisfied! This is my first time ever using Transitions, and I am pleased!

Your review was so helpful to me. I haven't had new glasses for many years and I am agonizing over choices because I know I won't have new glasses for many more. Thank you so much for this thorough review!! I know now what to do!!

finally a frank and real life demonstrative review.  It's good to see how clear they are in a room with decent light.

Best review and demo on YouTube. Thank you.
  • Hi, thanks for watching. What I had been told online and at the Optometrist was that they would activate to about 50% in the car. Mine barely activate though. Most all windows in vehicles block UV light, and if your windows are tinted they block it even more. Even when I have been in cars with no tint the most they activate is MAYBE 25%. Howerver, it is not uncomfertable to ride with them. Since I have had mine i do not have any problems with glare.

Great review! Probably one of the best informal reviews on Xtractive. Your total cost including taxes came to $310 + $40 (eye exam)? That included an extra set of $79 frames without lens?

Very professional review. I am looking for a replacement pair and wanted something that had a slight tint while indoors, in addition to the full tint while outside. Thank you for posting, this was a terrific help!

Bro from Arizona...excellent review of a product!! Best review to date for me...definitely gonna get those xtraactive lenses!!

As a police officer, it was suggested to me to get the Xtractive lenses. I wanted something that would darken in the car when I'm at work and off duty. I now primarily work nights but it was still recommended for me to get those.

FYI, When it comes to Transition lenses you should keep in mind where you live at. If you happen to live in a area where it's very common for the temps to reach 80°F and even higher. Then it would be wise to get Transition Xtractive lenses cause normal Transition lenses don't get as dark once temps reaches 80°F and higher. It's just one small thing to keep in mind. If you live in a area where it's only reaches 80°F and higher say around 2-3 month's of the year say around summer time. Then chances are you could save a few bucks and get normal Transition lenses since they work well in temps under 80°F.
  • Not clear on what you mean by standard but for the regular Transitions it was around $45 per lens. Then the Xtractive were $100 per lens. Based on what some of the other viewers have commented it seems to vary from place to place.
  • Thank you for your great review on the transitions extra-active lenses.  Last year I wanted to get them, but the gal selling the glasses wasn't really informed about them, so she talked me out of buying them.  She told me they would be really tinted indoors, but after seeing your glasses indoors I can barely see a tint.  My eye appointment is next month and I am going to go for them due to your input.  I want my glasses to darken while in the car and the extra-active will do this for me.

Thank you for complete really helpfull demonstration. Do some of you have an idea which type of Transitions lenses are more expensive? Xtractive or 'Signature'? I do not need dioptres, rather glasses against too much light (and this much changes), opticians I've consulted did not mention the differences, even if they knew I would not need the lenses fully clear inside - more likely, still functioning when behind window. They just focused on how quickly the lenses adjust. It would be nice if polarisation is integrated. Otherwise, classic polarisation glasses seems too dark, often cat.2.would be enough for me (not always).
  • @FarahAbdul
I thought polarized lenses always stay dark inside and out. And it was UV light save and transition uses UV rays to switch back and forth how do they go together.

This is a pretty good review.  I just ordered these lenses.  I really can't handle bright light well.  These will work out very well for me.  As for the tint indoors, it isn't even noticeable.  I can't imagine it will be a problem for me.
